Animal Kingdom Walking Trails?

I have several major health issues and I am trying to save my endurance/energy as much as possible when we are at Disney/Animal Kingdom Park in May. I would like to be able to see the tigers on the one trail in asia and the hippos/gorilla on the african walking trail. It seems that these animals are located at the end of the trail and not the beginning. Does anyone know if it is possible to bypass the rest of the trail and go straight to the end where these animals are if you have a GAC? Any help would be great.

Thanks
Jennifer Crider

My judgement is that hippos are one third into and gorrillas half way around the Africa walking trail and tigers half way round India trail. There is little to be gained by backing out the way you go in or entering through the exit.

Paths can be rough in parts of Animal Kingdom. Hard going in a manual wheelchair but OK in a rented scooter/ECV.

Your planned itinery as posted in your other thread, plus these two walking trails is very ambitious for a half day visit to Animal Kingdom.

Do you think we would see enough of the "bigger" animals at the animal kingdom lodge that we could skip the trails and safari? If everyone says the safari is that rough I don't think my son would like it too much either. I just wanted him to see some of the animals he hasn't see except for in his books. Are there any elephants at the AK lodge- he loves pictures of them.

Thanks again for all honesty.

Really with a stamina/endurance problem you should strongly consider use of an ECV.

How old is your son? How many will be in your group? Having number of people, ages, and relationships can help us make better suggestions.

If you have not yet done so, you might want to read the "disABILTIES! FAQ". If you click on where it says "disABILTIES" at the top of this page it will take you to the Index. The third item down is the "disABILTIES FAQ" which will gives lots of useful information, including where people rent ECVs.

The animals at Animal Kingdom Lodge are vegetarians, and no big animals like Elephants. I suspect they only want 'gentle' animals near the hotel for safety reasons. The animals at the lodge include Impala, Pink Backed Pelican, Reticulated Giraffe, Ostrich, Grants Zebra, Greater Kudu, East African Crane, Ankole Cattle, Bongo, Blesbok, Eland, Gemsbok, Greater Kudu, Impala, Thomson's Gazelle. I have seen other animals also, such as small pigs with tusks.

How about your husband riding the safari first, on his own, then a second time with you, if he thinks it is not too rough. On these boards we all express our opinions - but they are just that - opinions. Only you (and your husband) know what you can manage.
