Hi,

My hubby and I booked 5 nights at the Animal Kingdom Villas, we will be joined my mother-in-law who will be using the sofa bed...how comfortable are the sofa beds and can we request an extra mattress on top of the soda bed?

Thanks,

Not very comfortable but not the worst of pull-outs, which too many makes are, either. They don't provide extra mattresses.

We loved the sofa beds, but we stayed in the grand villa. The beds in the main room were kind of too hard for us and the beds the kids slept on were so comfy.

we thought the Kidani ones were very comfy, don't know about Jambo House

If you want an extra mattress for on top of the sleeper sofa, you'll need to bring your own Aerobed. DVC won't provide that.

I see you are in Lauderdale....so you're probably driving....you can get a memory foam topper...they are about 2-3" thick.....try sears or Costco....they roll up like a sleeping bag but a little bigger.

If there are 3 adults booked into a studio, will the sofa already be pulled out or at least made up with the linen? If it is not, could it be requested a couple of days before arriving?

We will be checking-in late and I don't feel like having to make up the bed before going to sleep.

Sheets stay on the bed when it is closed. Pillows are stored in the apparatus. It should be pretty much ready to sleep in when opened.

Sometimes the sleeper sofa is not made up and the guest has to make it up to sleep. Since they don't know which villa you will be in until you check in, you can't request that it be made up for you ahead of time.

As for the storage space, not all the sleeper sofas are the same. Some don't have the storage space for the bedding and it may be in the closet or in the coffee table (storage bin).

I know egg crate toppers are available at OKW but not sure about other DVC resorts, but I would expect that they would have them as well. And then it could be that it may or may not be available when you check-in because of limited supply so as pp suggested it's probably best to just buy it and take along.

:goodvibes

Thanks for the suggestions...we actually just moved to Indiana from Ft. Lauderdale so this will be our first flight to Orlando...here's hoping the mother-in-law will approve of the sofa bed...

We left Kidani today and used the sofa sleeper. Sheets were on it and pillows and blanket were in a plastic bag in the armoire. DS--16 and 6'4"--said it was comfortable.

Last year, my then 9 year old son complained about the sofa bed in a Kidani studio. I didn't believe him, until I laid on it. :sad2: Besides it being a little hard - which I could handle, the way it folds out [very convenient] means that the mattress is in 3 sections and the grooves of the section closest to your upper back can be bothersome.
