I'm looking to celebrate my 40th birthday at AKL. It's not until October of 2010, but I always have to be planning some Disney trip :) And, because it's the big 4-0 it has to be special :scared1:

We're a family of 5 - what options will we have in 10/2010 at AKL for this size party? I saw a Deluxe room with Bunk Beds, but I think I read somewhere that this is no longer available?? I don't really want the expense of a villa/one bedroom.

I'm also interested in the difference in price between savannah view and club level. I would really like to do the safari that's on property.

Also, regarding the restaurants at AKL, are there plenty of kid friendly choices?

What's the water slide like?

Pictures would be fabulous too,

TIA!!:flower3: Kelly/Wings

Hi Kelly. There are 4 different FAQs about the AKL on this sticky.

Lots of great info and pictures there. If a thread is closed, you can't ask anymore questions on that FAQ but there can still be great info on them. There are pictures of the slide on there too as I recall.

The deluxe rooms that slept 5 were on the 5th floor. Nearly every room on that floor is now DVC villas. And the word on the DIS is that there are no more deluxe rooms available to book. But I noticed mousesavers still lists it as an option. And I've noticed a few rooms on the fifth near the suites that don't have a DVC logo on them. Not sure if they are saved to expand the suites or if it's possible to book them. Hopefully, an expert will be along to help you.

But if that's not an option, then I'm afraid you're out of luck unless you get two rooms or a one BR villa...or unless one of your children will still be under three at that point.

The Sunset Safari can be booked whether in club level or not. It's $60 more/person if you're not staying club level I think.

Happy planning!

I'm going through this same problem myself right now except for my 50th. I'm currently booked at CSR for my trip in Dec. I wanted to stay Concierge to do the safari and breakfast at Cindy's, not on the same day. (My brothers bday is the day before mine, but he's 5 yrs olders. I'm pretty sure that you can only book the safari if staying CL.

It is true that you must be staying club level at AK to do the Sunrise Safari. But not so for the Sunset Safari. That one is restricted to AKL/AKV guests but costs more if not staying club level. I think that's the one the OP is talking about as she said the safari on property. The Sunset Safari takes places on the savannahs of AKL&V.

Happy planning to you too!

I have read many of the threads dedicated to the AKL - but I was hoping for some more recent and personal responses to what AKL is like now and/or after the AKV are complete (without having to wade through in some cases 800+ posts).

Thanks!

I might be wrong but the sunset safari is more than $60 pp. More like $200+ pp could be wrong but that what I was told when I went this past May Club level. We did the sunrise one which was about $50 pp(which was for club level guests only).

Yes, I posted it was $60 more/person if not staying club level.

Tammi posted this today.

According to her info it's $50 more/person. I'm pretty sure I've also read $60 more though.:confused3 Perhaps it's been adjusted one way or the other.

Wingedheart, the villas are complete within DVC. The info I posted about the 5th floor is current. But the restaurants and slide haven't changed.:confused3
