The new park hours for the time our family is going to be there in August says that the Animal Kingdom closes at 5:00 pm. Since Ive never been to the Animal Kingdom so dont know how it is set up, does this mean that the entire park closes? Or just the portions set aside for the animals? Sorry for my ignorance, but just dont know the answer. :)

Don't apologize! It's an understandable question. I'm pretty sure that the whole park closes at 5:00 except the Rainforest Cafe which is located at the entrance.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Yep, the whole park closes - but they just extended the June hours to keep it open till 6, so maybe...

The best thing to do is to go to AK, then hop to another park either after dinner, or for dinner, such as Epcot that is open later.

Just as an FYI - no matter what time of year, AK is the first to close during the day (around 5-6)...something to do with the animals.

But if you haven't had your fill of animals for the day, head over to the AK Lodge and go to one of the 'viewing decks'...I heard some animals get pretty close (ie, giraffes and I think zebras.)

have fun! :)

You guys are great!!!! Just knew you all would come through!! We have decided to do AKL on Monday and then when the park closes do dinner at Cape May Cafe and on our way "home" go to the fireworks at MK. I think this will be doable. I hope so anyway!! Thank you again!!!

We stayed at AKL in March and it is a fantastic place. Take the time to visit the lodge and look at everthing. The animals are so close and the decor is terrific. The bus fromAK only takes afew minutes and then you can take a bus to another park or DTD

The extended hours are good news. The posted hours at the moment state a 5.00pm closing time for AK in July - if they have extended to 6pm in June, there's a very good chance July's hours will be extended too.

While looking, I notice that they've extended the closing times at the water parks from 5pm (what???) to a more respectable 7pm.
