Is going to Disney's Animal Kingdom Park worth the price for a single day trip?

If you have never been; go.

Whether it is a full day park or a half day park is really up to one's own interpretation. I myself only go for a 1/2 day but we have passes. I do enjoy Dinosaur, KS, ITTBAB, Pangani Trail, and all of Asia.

Some people will linger while others will go through the park "commando style". It is very pleasant to walk all of the paths and just "see what you can see".

I just visited Animal Kingdom for my first time earlier this month. I didn't care for it so much. It felt like an over-priced zoo. We bought 3 one day tickets and used our Hoppers from previous years for the other parks. I feel like we wasted a lot of money on AK, but then again, I couldn't see us leaving WDW NOT having at least tried that park. Try it once... I won't buy a one day ticket for it again, only park hoppers and if there's extra time.

For a brand new theme park, I thought Disney would have done a MUCH better job with it. The crowds were low and the weather was good---so it was a perfect remedy for a nice experience, I just didn't care for the park.::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

ABSOLUTELY WORTH THE PRICE.
AK is a beautiful park with 2 marvelous
shows. Trazan Rocks and The Festival
of the Lion King, these are a must.
I have been many times and we always
enjoy it.
To see and do all that is in the park will
take all day.
Some, say it is a 1/2 day park, then I will
say those only see and do only half.
Now, you can make a 1/2 day of it but,
you won't see all the see's and do all the
do's.
IT'S a good one don't miss it.

Out of all the parks, this one is my favorite. It's a very layed back take it slow kind of park. Plenty of shows to keep you busy, Tarzan Rocks and Festival of the Lion King top my list. There is also the bird show (can't think of the name of it) and if you have little ones, Pocahontis (sp?). Plenty of trails to walk down. Back in Afica and Asia you have animal treks then there are 2 trails that will take you right up to the Tree of Life, the entrances to the trails are tricky to find but well worth it. You can get some up close peeks at the animal carvings. Of course the Safari should not be missed, you could go on this many times throughout the day and it will be differant each time. And the list just goes on and on from the rides to the characters. Alot of people don't like AK because it is a take it easy park. Not many thrill rides but there is so much more to keep you busy. We had friends down a few weeks ago and I figured that they would get the park done in 1/2 a day, just knowing how they do the parks but they were there all day and didn't see it all. I say give it a try at least once and have an open mind.

The Animal Kingdom...either you love it ..or you tolerate it...my husband loves it and could spend several days there....I could spend about 6 hours there and then be ready for dinner and an evening at the MK or Epcot....our feelings regarding MGM are about the same too.
You really need to enjoy the Disney stage shows to get the most out of the entire day. If you do go to the AK, try to go when Flights of Wonder is running...good bird show, Festival of the Lion King-a very, very good show, the parade is worth the wait, Tarzan Rocks is ok..I could pass on this show..but DH likes to watch Jane swinging from the vine in next to nothing. The animal trails are nice way to slow down and lose time...although they tend to get congested and it's hard to see the gorillas or tigers when the people are pressed against the windows 3 or 4 rows deep.
I love the colors used around the AK and I like the shops at the AK...lots of 'different' merchandise to browse through(which is a nice break from the endless t-shirts, snowglobes and photo-albums that are the same in all of the rest of the parks and DTD)...the restaurant choices are limited..we tend to do Tusker House and Flame Tree BBQ....Tusker house is always very yummy for counter service...Flame Tree BBQ is different from when it was first opened and I don't enjoy it as much..we did try Donald's Breakfastsaurus a few years back...enjoyed it..but haven't been able to trick my BIL into that character breakfast again since...apparently he did not appreciate being referred to as Sean-o-saurus so early in the morning.

Do you love going to the zoo back home...or do you do it for the kids? If you don't love a zoo...I say wait until you have the flexibility of a hopper on another future trip......if you are an annual pass holder at your local zoo...then go ahead and go wild at the AK.

Thanks All!

Actually it is just my husband and myself going, and we both love animals. Is the park geared more towards children?

We are going in Feb, is this a good time to go?

How is the "Primeval Whirl"?

Can I get the fast pass with a single day ticket?

Thanks again.

Fast passes are available to all guests. I would say there is just as much for adults as children to enjoy--you wouldn't want to take kids on Dinosaur for instance or many of them to It's Tough to be a Bug. My DD and I loved--loved!--primeval whirl, but not everyone does.
