Animal Kingdom or Not?????

I am the one in our family that really likes AK and not just the rides and shows - I always take the trail that goes to the gorilla area and the tigers also. Also like Kali River Rapids along with the other rides mentioned. Have a wonderful trip.

:Pinkbounc Please don't miss AK! It has some of the best things Disney has to offer! The lion king show is amazing. It's tough to be a bug is great too! As the others have said the park closes early. So you will have plenty of time to go back and rest. Next to MK this is my fav. park. Belive me it's just not all about animals. You and your family will have a great time there. I do hope you go. Remember when you get home give us a report and let us know if you tried it and how you liked it! :cheer2: :cheer2: Have fun! (Oh, and check out Flame tree BBQ! Yummy! ) :wave2:

We love Animal Kingdom. I wouldn't dream of going to WDW and skipping it.

Maybe you could go in the morning and if you get tired, go back to your resort for a rest and swim?

OMG!!! What took its place? :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: My dd is going to be devastated. We have seen it everytime, the lastest being last December. We are going again in December and I had no idea. I guess I will tell her now instead of then.

I think he/she means it's "over at MGM" meaning "it's over there at MGM, not AK." I don't think they meant "it's finished at MGM." I'm hoping, anyway!

THANKS!!!! I read it wrong. Thank you for opening my sleepy eyes. I didnt want to share that sad news with my dd.

My whole family could do without going to AK, but if you did you could do it in a 1/2 day. Donald's Breakfast is good and if you get an 8:00 reservation you can be in the park before it opens. Ride EE, the safari and Dinosaur and then you can leave. I don't like EE (backward part makes my head feel funny. Don't really care for Dinosaur all the much either. The ride jerks around too much. My children didn't like it either.

I for one would take DAK over MGM Studios in heartbeat. But I'm a zoo guy.

That's a great decision - stay true to it. AK is an incredible park combining the best shows with great rides for all ages.

You'll definite regret missing AK. It's so different but yet so Disney. We love it, there's so much to do, it's absolutely fabulous.

We were told by many people it wasn't worth going that we would not enjoy it. It turned out we loved it. We were able to do the whole park in by 3:00 and had the rest of the day to eat a nice dinner and rest. We would highly recommend going.
::yes::

We've been to disney about 7 times now, and we decided we won't be doing AK this year, since we're only staying 5 days. However, if you haven't been before, definitely go. It might be just the park for you, maybe not. You won't know until you try.

You have to do AK. We go for the major attractions. Go in the morning. That is one of my favorite memories of Disney... the feel of the humid misty air (we go in the fall or spring so it is cooler). I'll always remember the feeling of walking up and seeing the Tree of Life!

We got back last month from our first family trip. We did not have park hoppers, since it was an extra $280.00 for our family of 7. We had planned on doing all the parks once with the exception of MK which we did twice. We dicided to skip AK and do Disney Studios twice. The kids loved the idea, the one's who wouldn't ride Rockin Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror the first time did it on the 2nd day. We have no regrets and everyone had a good time. If we had park hoppers we would have gone. Just so we could see what it was like, but didn't think it was worth the extra $280.
My kids are ages DS14, DD13, DD8, DS8, and DD8!

I would definitely plan on going to AK. We usually see all we want to by 2:00 so you could spend the rest of the day relaxing at the pool. Last year we missed it because DH got sick. This year it will be our first stop.

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

We were very disappointed with AK, when we visited a few years back. This year we are only planning a few hours in the morning to do EE, then Primevil Whirl for DD (I call it Primevil Hurl) and Dinosaur for DH and FIL. Then off to another park for the day.

We don't have kids. We don't like to go for a trip of more than 5 days without taking a day off to just veg and knock around DTD, catch a movie, or just lounge at the pool. We also go every year or two, so we know that we will be making our way back and that there is no way to do it all in one trip.

Trust me when I say that I am a HUGE AK fan. I love the place. On our first 6 day trip back in 2002, we only spent half a day there on the next to the last day of the trip and were kicking ourselves for not giving it more time. I love the park, there are many special things to see and do. I see lots of kids that seem to really be enjoying their experiences there too.

While I would love for you to make some time to see the park, because I do feel that it is worth your time, I would not do so at the expense of your family's need for down time. So, tweak your itinerary in the way that you feel is best for you, knowing that you will hopefully be going back again and can take on new adventures then. Maggie

AK is a beautiful park. You really shouldn't miss it. It was never a top priority for us on shorter visits either, but now it's one of our favorites. We really look forward to it. I find it much more relaxing than some of the other parks.

In fact, we'll be there in less than 3 weeks and I can't wait! :simba:

I just asking for advice - Not bashing...............................

That's TWO of my posts in the same thread that were misunderstood!

(Stay in school, kids!)

I was trying to say in a "clever" way that ALL of the parks are tiring.
And ALL of them are worth visiting.

YOU picked AK to "skip".

I was just saying that if you wanted to REST, there were other parks at WDW that where just as tiring (if not MORE) than AK.

As others have said, you can REST at home.

:thumbsup2

Yes, as Liberty Belle said, the meaning of my message was that B&B is "located" over inside another park (MGM), and not in the AK (which is the subject of this thread.)

B&B is still performing every day, several shows a day... at the Disney/MGM Studios theme-park.

I love AK. It is 3rd on my list in favorite order. I think it is a relaxing park and the size of it is great for spreading people out.
