Our family of 5 - will be going to Disney for the first time in October. I've been visiting the boards and trying to learn as much as possible from all the veterans!! You've been a great help!!

That being said, as of late, we are wondering if we should forgo going to Animal Kingdom so we can have a rest day in the middle of our week?

Our schedule is pretty tight with alot of time at MK. Animal Kingdom just doesn't seem like a top priority??????

We thought this trip would be our one and only, but I know from all my research, we'll be back.

What do you think??? Would we be missing alot?

AK is a nice park.

AK is one of our favorite parks. It would really take away from our trip if we left this park off of our schedule. If you get there early enough in the off season, you can do the whole park by 2:00 or 3:00. You could then hop to another park or go rest and swim. It has some of the best attractions with EE, Festival of the Lion King, the Safari and Dinosaur. I would definitley recommend that you go.

You could do Animal Kingdom (not completely, but the main things) in half a day. It's best to get there first thing in the morning, do the safari and expedition everest and then you HAVE to catch the Festival of the Lion King. It's amazing.

If you want the best of both worlds go to AK - get your fast pass for EE, go on the Safari, hit Dinosaur, then ride EE and go back to the resort for rest. If for fun without going back to the parks, make a trip to MK near dark, hit the monorail and watch wishes from the beaches at Polynesian.

WHATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!

There is NO resting in DisneyWorld!! Do NOT go home without going to AK! I cannot explain to you HOW absolutely disappointed you will be IF you go home and people start asking you about AK and you HAVE to tell them you did NOT go!!! You will be sorry!!! There is so much to see and do at AK!

You can all REST when you get home! Disney is about doing and seeing everything you possibly can while there.

My family have been there one million times (well not really) but GO like you will not be back for many many years and SEE IT ALL!!! That is what we do!

:thumbsup2

I would not miss AK. As the other posters have said, AK can be done in half a day. We always go at openning, hit Safari, Lion King, Kali and leave. This time EE is there.

The Lion King is the best show in WDW right now (since Hunchback & Tarzan are gone), Harambe is DEFINITELY worth it and Dinosaur is a great ride, Tree of Life, Bugs World, EE, -- yeah it's definitely worth the trip. If you hit it right, you can see everything in less than a day. Plus it closes early. You'll regret not going.

The theming is incredible. I love the safari, looking for animals on the Tree of Life, Dinosaur, Its Tough to be a Bug, and much more. The shows are great. I don't feel like I'm in a theme park for the most part when I'm there. I love it!

We were told by many people it wasn't worth going that we would not enjoy it. It turned out we loved it. We were able to do the whole park in by 3:00 and had the rest of the day to eat a nice dinner and rest. We would highly recommend going.

AK is one heck of a park. The theming is absolutely incredible and I really think it is worth at least a half day. Everest is totally worth seeing and doing, the safari is really cool, and I personally love Dinosaur too! There is more to see and do than just rides there because you really feel immersed in the atmosphere. You should totally go! Have a great trip! :cool1:

When I do my planning for a trip to WDW I allow myself a minimum of five nights at a resort on site. (Except if planning a brief stay in March to see a couple of spring training baseball games, in which case three nights will do admirably.)

The five night stay gives me four full days, one for each of the parks. I plan my "day of rest" for the first full day after I return home.

There is no way I would consider skipping any of the four parks, one day per park.

Enjoy.

If resting is your priority, I'd skip DAK.

And I'd not go to Epcot either... its really BIG.

And MGM? What's the big deal? It might just tire you out.

MK is so magical its not gonna relax you either.

So... for a relaxing trip to WDW, I recommend drawing the curtains in your room and sleeping-in.

;)

I cant imagine going to wdw and not doing ak. We love all the parks and shows but Lion King is the best!!!! My children sit on the front row and have got to be part of the show. It is great.(for boys and girls, children and adults) I would have to say, dont let your dd miss the beauty and the beast. This is where my dh and ds do a few other things, but it is awesome. Being my dd favorite we sit in awe, clicking photos of some of our fondest memories. One more tip, take advantage of the photopass. The pictures turn out great. Have a wonderful trip and start budgeting for the next. You will be back!!!!!!

Since you are a first timer I think it is a MUST DO...it only takes half a day at best and they do have the new Expedition Everest ride.

I totally agree, but, to be clear, B&B is over at MGM.

Here's a link to a video clip I recorded at B&B this year.

OMG!!! What took its place? :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: My dd is going to be devastated. We have seen it everytime, the lastest being last December. We are going again in December and I had no idea. I guess I will tell her now instead of then.
