Animal Kingdom on Christmas Day?

Hi,
We are in the early stages of planning for a 17 night trip to WDW from the UK in December (10-27)

We last went at Xmas 2013 and then we went to Epcot on Xmas Day.

This time we thought we'd do something different. I was thinking that HS may be a bit of an anti climax with no Osborne Lights and all the closures and that MK will be too busy to enjoy.

...which leaves Animal Kingdom!

I thought that we could get a bus mid-morning (from BWV) and do a couple of FP+s and some stuff that is not too busy, get lunch with the characters at Tusker House and finish off with the new Rivers of Light, which I assume will be up and running by then (?)

We would still have one full day left (Boxing Day we call it in the UK - not sure if it's the same there, the 26th) which we would plan to finish on a high at MK with the Xmas Parade, Wishes, etc.

Any holes in this plan?

Thanks

Wow, sounds like a wonderful trip. Boxing Day is not a thing the U.S., but I'm sure you know the parks reach their absolute highest attendance the week between Xmas and New Year's Day (and even beyond as the first week or so of January has been picking up steam with respect to high crowds.)

I like the thought of your AK idea, and yes Rivers of Light should be in full swing, I've seen the predicted opening as early as April this year. Even with Disney's painstakingly slow construction schedule, surely they won't have to push the opening from April all the way to December. :)

I'll let someone else chime in on the AK plan. I'd say you'll definitely want to be ready to jump on that Tusker House ADR for Xmas day.

Boxing Day is when everyone watches the match at ringside (no, not really). AK will probably be least crowded of all the parks on Christmas

Animals need love on Christmas and it'll be the least busy of the parks for sure. Book your fast passes for the mid-afternoon and just have a relaxing morning. Sounds like a lovely plan.

Heh - the animals won't know it's Christmas Day. They'll just be wondering why they can't look at as many humans as they did on previous days.

OP - your plan sounds great and if you say something about Boxing Day here in the US, you might get some strange looks. For us, that's just the day after Christmas when everyone has to go back to work. Although, if your trip is in 2016, Christmas falls on a Sunday so most of us will have December 26th off and the parks will be more crowded. So your plan is even better.
