Animal Kingdom on a Saturday?

We will be visiting the last full week in September and all the touring plans and recommendations are calling for Animal Kingdom to be the best park for the day on Saturday. I know that the weekends are busier which is why we usually avoid Saturdays in the parks and that AK gets very crowded due to its size so I'm wondering if we should try to park hop and fit AK in another day to avoid Saturday. Our family actually loves Animal Kingdom and we will have all day Saturday but it is our least favorite with crowds because of the layout. Any advice from September travelers??

I follow Josh's advice on easyWDW. His reasoning behind park recommendations makes total sense to me.

I know they are extending hours at AK on Saturdays in September until 6pm currently with the F&W festival going on.

I plan to go for the afternoon on a Saturday and around dinner head to another (non-EPCOT) park for the rest of the evening.

Well you won me over with your post of love AK and all day :thumbsup2 This is my favorite park I have been going there since the day it opened in 98 Was in that car line at abt 4 am if I recall ! I only say this so that I give another AK lover my experience with the park Sept + Saturday = NO problem Enjoy the whole day

We went on a Saturday last October and were able to walk onto Everest twice right after rope drop. It truly is the best park to visit on a Saturday. We were able to tour without even using any FP+ (or FP-) there. We hopped over to MK for late night touring and used our FPs there.

Epcot is also always an excellent choice on Sat (except during F&W festival), due to the very popular Fri PM EMH and the fact that many guests are arriving on Sat (go first to MK) and have Sat as their last day (also often go to MK).

Nice to know. I was thinking of doing this but wasn't quite sure I wanted to risk it at AK...
