For starters, I was this close to just saying "AK AM EMH" LOL

Here's the question. For my October trip, I am contemplayting doing AK in the morning of an EMH day. (A Saturday) How crowded does everyone think it will get? I'm generally of the mindset of "Wherever EMH is, I am not." Also, this would be the weekend AFTER Columbus Day and it's very doubtful that we'll be planning on being at AK before the "Regular" 9 am opening time.

As of lately the morning EMH's are the place to be. They have been much quieter than the evening ones. I say go for it. I'm sure you'll get a least 1-2 major attractions accomplished.

definately go, and be sure to do the safari ride first. The animals come out to eat, and are very near the roadways. We had to stop several times for them to move. Great photo ops...

Thanks for the info! We were planning on doing the same thing, hoping the animals would be out more in the cool morning than they might be later in the day -- it's good to hear that it did work that way for someone :)

My kids *love* animals, and AK didn't even exist last time I was at WDW. I'm looking forward to that part of the trip *so* much.

i think that if you arent going to be at the park for the emh then you should avoid that park. from the op, it appears you are just going to be at ak on a morning of emh, but not participating in emh, right? the answers you got appear to assume you will be there for the emh. i would not go to ak or any park with am emh, if i were not going to participate in the emh.

In many trips, if we decide to go to AK, it is ALWAYS on the early day. We go directly to the safari, the Tough to be a Bug movie, and Festival of the Lion King. With an autistic son, that's all he wants to see, we're off to MK or EPCOT. Some day, I'm going by myself and check out the shops and restaurants everyone likes there.

You are correct that we won't be there for the EMH portion. A) I never get up that early on vacation. and B)Although I will have acclimated by that day, my family will still be on California time.
My questioning was that since the perception of AK is a "half day park", even though it's a Saturday, will it be not-that-crowded type conditions.

Two years ago (in October) we went to early opening at AK and did arrive when it opened. We found that the park got very busy in a hurry -- I specifically recall getting to the Festival of the Lion King at least 45 minutes early and not getting in. We left soon after that and returned on a non-early entry day and found the crowds to be significantly reduced.

We are going back in early Oct and are definitely not going to AK on an early entry day.
