Hello Everyone, I am going to Florida for business in April. We are attending the Disney training and while I am at the training for 4 days I will be staying at the Coronado Springs Resort. I wanted to try a Deluxe Resort for 3 nights prior to my training but really do not have a lot of money and this will be our 4th trip to Disney within a one year period so there is no way I can justify a huge price to DH. He actually thinks we should just stay at a value resort the other nights but since it's just 2 nights I'd like to stay somewhere really nice since that is all we will have to pay for. We called and due to the great codes we were able to get the Animal Kingdom Lodge for $161 plus tax a night but this is not really one of the hotels I really wanted to stay in. What does everyone think of this hotel and do you think that is a good rate? The theming just does not seem to be me but it does sound neat. My dream resorts to stay in are the Grand Floridian, Yacht Club or Boardwalk Inn but the prices I received for those even with the discount were really high. Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo

We recently did a split stay at AKL/WL. This was the first time we tried AKL. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. The resort is beautiful and it is great to see the animals every morning.

Our favorite is still WL, but we would not hestitate to stay at AKL again. The rooms are big and the decor is really beautiful - the food is great too!

I really enjoyed the AKL! Staying there was like having two vacations in one! The atmosphere is very different from any of the other resorts on property and it's great to go back to the hotel and be surrounded by the sights and sounds and smell too! I don't know what it is about that place, but it smells great! The rooms are beautiful and the beds very comfy! What view do you have? We had a pool view and it was great sitting out on the balcony at night with a glass of wine and soaking up the atmosphere before heading down to the hot tub for a late night soak. A little tip for you, the hot tub on the left side on the pool is very quiet and private. It's up the stairs and around the bend and surrounded by plants and bamboo!

Now I'm sad, all this thinking about it has made me wish I were there right now instead of freezing my *** off in PA!

I would definately stay at the AKL! You'll love it!!!

We've stayed at WL, YC, and AKL (and had dinner at the other deluxe resorts). AKL is the one we keep going back to again and again. (We're going for our 3rd time next spring). If you want a typical "Disney" feel, this is not the resort for you. When there, you feel as if you are a million miles away from the theme parks. We love the parks, but after a full day it's good to get away. You just feel as if you're at a great resort.

If you want to see some good pictures of the rooms go to :

There's a photo gallery for AKL under the accomodations section.

Have a great trip!

This is our favorite resort!

It is truly beautiful, just the smell when you enter is wonderful! The rooms are nice, the theming is done very well here. The pool area is great, and it is home to 2 of the best restaraunts Bomas and Jikos. There are a lot of neat things to do besides the animal watching (which is great in and of itself) But real natives tell stories around the firepits, theres a cool lounge just below the main level that serves great drinks if you want to relax with a cocktail in the evening, other activities depending on your interests. Weve been back here a few times....and its the only resort so far that we HAD to go back to!

I've never stayed at AKL before, but we've visited it to go to Boma, and I was quite agog. Long story short, it's where we're going to spend my 40th birthday. I'm sure you'll like it.

I've stayed at the Beach Club and AKL. Even if you prefer the BC-style theming, the AKL is awesome, beautiful, cozy, a feast for the senses! The pool area at night is so exotic. And the animals are really right there.
Don't hesitate to try AKL, especially when the price is right.:D

Thanks so much! I think we will enjoy it very much. We like a more peaceful feel so I think it will be a great choice. I can't believe my work is actually sending me to Disneyworld ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

Hey, lotsa folks love AKL (it's our Fav'), but there are others who do not like it a bit. But different strokes for different folks, right? You may want to look for the negative posts and see if anything like that bothers you, and if so, think twice about it. We think AKL is wonderful! but your opinion may differ. But if it's for a short stay, give it a shot, come back again if you love it, don't if you hate it.

Hey Mortlives! I could have written the exact same post! Same thing happened to us - one dinner there & that's where I'll turn 40....

Should really take the sting out, shouldn't it? I was so glad when BDP came out, we upgraded to Savannah View, now I'm 5 times as excited about it as I was. Imagine... looking forward to turning 40.

Ahh - We are still at Rack Rate - BDP ends before we check in to AKL, we start out our trip at the Dolphin...
I was looking forward to 40 already, much easier than 30 was...
But, I had made my DH & DS promise to throw me a suprise party - I guess they figured it was easier to take me to WDW..... DH really hates to entertain. :p
