We are in the process of booking a WDW vacation for next year (Aug. 08) and after watching a lot of Disney related stuff on Travel Channel, my husband has decided that this time, he wants to stay in the Animal Kingdom Lodge. (We went to WDW last August 06 and stayed at Swan resort..which was pretty decent). I went online to get some pricing information and the package came back with Animal Kingdom Villas - Savannah View. Has anyone ever stayed there and/or are there links to any pics?
Thanks.

AKV are the newest addition to AKL. They are opening up in stages, they just opened them up in Aug 2007. I've seen the models and they are fabulous!!! We're staying there during Spring Break. We stayed at AKL a couple of years ago and it was GREAT, though this time in a villa should make it more awesome. Here are some pictures..

AK Villas are part of the Disney Vacation Club. A small percentage ownership is maintained by Disney for rental to non-owners. I have not stayed at the brand new AKLV, but I have stayed in villas at OKW, BCV and BWV. They are wonderful, but expensive if renting from Disney. With a Studio you generally get 1 Queen bed (2 at OKW and some at BCV) with a double sleep sofa, and a kitchenette with a small refrigerator, a microwave, sink, and toaster. They sleep 4.
With a 1 bedroom (sleeps 4) you get a Master Bedroom with a King bed, a bathroom with a whirlpool tub, a washer and dryer and a fully equipped, full size kitchen. There is a living room with a Queen sleep sofa and a small dining table and chairs.
A 2 bedroom at most resorts, is a 1 bedroom connected to the ajoining studio (there are a small number of dedicated 2 bedrooms in the resorts). These can sleep up to 8.
We love staying in the Villas. We have found them to be tastfully decorated, comfortable and convenient. The extra room is great. Having a kitchen helps us to save money, even if it is only on breakfast, and the washer and dryer are so convenient
Have a Great Trip.

And at AKV, most 1 BRs will sleep 5 and most 2 BR will sleep 9. The extra bedding is a sleeper chair in the LR.

Small correction to the above. BCV does have some 2 BRS with 2 queens in the second BR but these are dedicated 2 BR units. So there aren't any studios with 2 Qs at BCV although there are at OKW.

I'll be staying at AKV in a SV studio in less than a month. We have stayed at AK before too. The resort is wonderful. I would highly suggest you hop on over to the DVC rent/trade board and consider renting points from an owner, instead of plunking down a bunch more money through CRO. We have rented points 2x, soon to be 3x, and have had excellent experiences doing so.
