Animal Kingdom Lodge Transportation

Staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge the first week in November. We are scheduled to run the 5K at the Animal Kingdom. This resort is not a preferred resort on the marathon website so there will be no special transportation from the Lodge to the park. Is the park within walking distance? Does the lodge have a shuttle we may be able to catch since we will need to be at the park earlier than WDW bus transportation starts? Should we rent a car?

the lodge probably is within walking distance but there are very few walkways so I wouldn't think it would be easy to walk.
If you don't need a car for anything else, I would consider getting a taxi. It shouldn't cost much as its such a short distance.

Animal Kingdom Lodge is not within reasonable walking distance of Animal Kingdom Park, and you would be taking your life into your own hands, as there are no sidewalks. You could probably cab it for around $10.
