Animal Kingdom Lodge to Magic Kingdom at Night

Hello everyone -

I'm pretty new here, so maybe this question has been answered before.

I have reservations at Boma at 7 PM on Thursday, April 22. We were going to try to catch the 9 PM Spectro Magic Parade at the Magic Kingdom later that night. Will the bus run often enough from Animal Kingdom Lodge to the Magic Kingdom that late? Will we realistically be able to get to the park in time for the parade?

Any suggestions for the quickest transportation?

Thanks!:)

I am assuming that you are going to take an hour to an hour and a half for dinner. Even if the bus was waiting for you at the front door of AKL you are going from one side of WDW to the other - quite a long trip. I would say a 20 minute bus ride by the time you make the stop at Kidani villages to pick up more passengers. It would be REALLY hard to make it and even if you did, you would not have a great viewing spot.

Best to have a leisurely dinner and catch Spectro on another night

Do not pass up Boma! ( I'm still trying to get a lunch ADR there!)

You might want to try another night.

An other option grabbing a Cab will/maybe get you there in time, but run you $20-25.

Boma does not serve lunch (only breakfast and dinner).:confused3

I'd try for an earlier dinner. 7:00 is prime dinner time and you could be stuck waiting for a table. Even if you don't wait long for a table, you'll feel rushed while eating because you'll be worried about getting to the MK.

It takes a while to get from AKL to the MK via bus or taxi. If you take a taxi, the taxi will likely take you to the MK parking lot and then you'd still have to take the ferry to the park. Then you'd have to get through the gates and find a spot to watch the parade that isn't already crowded with people who arrived long before you did.

I think a 7:00 ADR is cutting it too close to make it to the parade at the MK. JMHO.

Doesnt the bus stop at Kidani first?

It does, so they would get picked up and then go right to MK, but it would still be a 15-20 minute ride. I think that is cutting it too close. If you can change the adr to 6:00 or 6:20 I would do that.

and if you cannot change the ADR i would still show up at 6 (or earlier) and ask if you can get in early... otherwise, unless you have wings, you will not be able to go from a 7pm dinner at Boma to 9pm Spectro... it's just not do-able, and you likely will not enjoy your meal if you spend the entire time looking at your watch...

"If' you are seated right at 7, and you take about 45 mins to eat, and you get a bus to MK within 10 mins of getting to the bus stops, then you should be okay. You would be getting to MK by 8:30. You won't get a prime spot, but you'll be able to see the parade. Remember, it does start at the beginning of Main St.
I would try to move your ADR up a bit...maybe to around 6 if possible. Then you'll be golden. I just checked and was able to get a seating for four (not sure of your group size) for 4:55.

I agree about trying to get an earlier ADR because the few times my family and I went to Boma for dinner at 7:00 PM we waited at least 30 minutes or more past our scheduled time to be seated.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll see if we can push our ADR earlier!

We booked our trip the same weekend as grad nites, so our only chance to see Spectro Magic and Wishes is Thursday and Sunday.

Thanks again!

Yes, it does. Longest ride any trip from AKL to MK was 16 minutes and that was because we were stopped at the entrance by a supervisor for some reason. Shortest was 12 mins - averaged 13-14 mins. Depends on how you hit the lights. I had heard how horrible it was to be on a different continent by staying at AKL and lengthy bus rides so I timed them, so in reality it wasn't bad at all.
