Animal Kingdom Lodge question

We are on the waiting list for Beach club for one night but also my kids want to stay at AKL one night so we have a waitlist for that for the same night and will be happy if either come up. Question I have is which one - building should I waitlist at AKL? I don't know much about it and the DVC castmember was very appropriate with not giving an opinion so which one should we stay in- We have two boys 7 and 5 and are looking for a one bedroom- should we stay in the orginal building or the newer one (what are their names again?) -We are looking for a savannah view - does one have better animals? Is one easier to check in and out of or have a better pool? Thank you!!

Jambo House is the "old" building - the original AKL. Kidani Village is the new building. Do not know when you are planning on staying. Kidani is not totally completed - that will occur in September. Not sure what you mean by "better animals." What types of animals do you prefer? I think all the savannas might have giraffes.

Kidani does not have a counter service restaurant. However, it does have a children's pool play area. Guests at either can use the pools at both, I believe. If you're staying only one night you would probably want to decide if you'd rather have a counter service actually in the same hotel or if you want easier access to the children's pool play area.

Jambo also has the Mara, that's counter service.

We had a 1 night AKV stay in May after the cruise, ( we had several nights before the cruise at BCV) and I chose Kidani because of the play area in the pool and the fact that Kidani has dedicated 2 bedrooms which is what we need when we stay together. The family wasn't going to be picked up by ME until after 5PM, and they thoroughly enjoyed the whole day at the pool. Our DGC are 4,5 and 6.

I've had savannah view rooms in both buildings that have been excellent!

When completed, AKV's Kidani Village will have additional animals on their savannas according to Disney.

You can have 2 waitlists at a time. I would waitlist for both and see what comes through first. This is what I did and Jambo house came through. Turns out the 1 bedroom only has 1 bathroom (didn't know this until my planner showed up 2 weeks ago) now I am still waitlisted for Kidani.

I have not seen the Jambo rooms, but Kidani was FABULOUS and having 2 baths in our 1BR was nice. The pool at Kidani is sooooo much better than Jambo - smaller, quieter, better slide plus the water play area. The only downside as I see it is no counter service, but we picked up from the Mara (counter service at Jambo) and ate at the Kidani pool. The one night we went to Jambo the kids were whining to go back to Kidani.

We had standard view, but there are plenty of viewing windows, the deck off the lobby and several outside balcony viewing areas as well
