We are so excited to be staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge the last week of March. We ask for a Savannah view room but only pool view were available. Anyone out there have any opinions on this type of room? Thanks!!

We had a pool view room 3 years ago, and we loved it! I wrote a review at the time, which you can read here -

Notice that we started out in a standard view room and moved to pool view the next day, so you'll have to get past those first night photos to see and read about the pool view room.

We stayed pool view back in August. Not as thrilling obviously as savannah, but much better than standard view, imho. Always something to look at and we were on a higher floor so noise wasn't an issue for us.

oh, my goodness, we LOVED our pool view room! we just visited for the first time 1/27 to 2/3. we had booked standard but we were just really not happy with that room, so i asked to upgrade to pool view for the $5 per night. we were sooo glad we did, it was probably worth $50 more a night! our view was very pretty. the pool is very secluded. you will probably be looking at a lot of vegetation, more so than the pool itself. we were on the second floor RIGHT off the pool and never once heard any noise from the room. even from the balcony (or at the actual pool itself) it was never very loud, but again, it was not exactly peak season.

just a tip, we were located on zebra trail #2474 and we loved the location. there was a stairwell right next to our room that went directly to the pool and was right by the hot tub, the flamingo pond, and an animal overlook. it was also just another minute down the walkway to the mara. also, at the other end of our hallway was an awesome overlook with giant rocking chairs and binoculars.

there are plenty of places around the lodge to see the animals (and apparently we did not even see them all, i realized once we got back). it's actually cool to visit the different viewing areas because they all have different animals.

i would stay pool view there again in a heartbeat! enjoy your stay!

There is also a chance where you might get a savannah room. Also there are rooms that over look the pool and part of a savannah too. Once my wife and I stayed at the Disneyland Hotel in 06 I booked a parking lot view room, at check in we were upgraded to the marnia tower, Pool view on a corner you could watch fire works from Disneyland there. things will work out

Thanks for all the opinions! I feel better about the pool view room! Can't wait to go!!!:yay:

We had our first stay this past Sept at AKL. The budget would not allow us a savannah view so we booked a pool room. We LOVED it! In fact on our future trips to AKL (and we will definately be going back) I will book a pool room over a savannah view again. For us (our kids are 5 & 6) the convient location was such a plus. The the pool view location was FABULOUS. We were very close to the main lobby, the bus stop, and the Mara (and of course the pool;) ). We still felt we were able to experience the AKL atmosphere and viewed the animals from the many locations around the resort throughout our stay. And we did the night-time animal viewing with the night visions goggles :cool2: several nights and it was awesome. I honestly feel that by staying in a pool room view we did not miss out on anything. We LOVED:lovestruc it!

The best part about our pool view room was that we could leave the balcony door open, listen to the hot tub and the African music and just have a relaxing time...laying on our own bed! Depending on where you are you may still see animals or flamingos, etc from your room.

We have had both views and I will say that I liked pool view better. It was closer to the lobby and i loved sitting out on the deck overlooking that wonderful pool.

Our Pool View was to die for...........

I guess I will be the only naysayer in the group. We paid for a std view and were upgraded to a pool view. The view was spectacular, but the noise each day as we tried to rest in our room was awful.

I do not remember what floor we were on.

We've had two different pool views. One was to the right of the pool (if looking out of the back of the resort) and could actually see the pool. The last time it was considered a pool view because it faced the pool but due to the trees we couldn't see the pool, lol. Our room was right above the Mara and we could occaisionally hear people in the pool.

We were DVC and on the Zebra Trail. I think it was room 4437 or 4436. We were in the Group of rooms right before the "arm" kinda jets off. The 2nd group of rooms. http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/aklmap.htm We were close to an elevator and close to the pool and food court. It was wonderful! It was however a hike to the buses, but worth it!

Thanks so much for the information! One more question, where do the buses pick up, in front of the lodge? I'm sure it is on the map but I can't locate it! Thanks!

We just upgraded today from CSR to AKL Pool View on 3/28-4/4 with the buy 4 get 3 package. It's our first time staying at AKL and you all talked us into the Pool View. We're very excited!!!
