Hi :wave2:

We've never been to Animal Kingdom before and just wondered if anyone could tell me the types of food there is and if theres anything you do or don't recommend trying

Thanks :goodvibes

Hi there. You probably already know this but AK has the least restaurants of any park. With that being said I think you should be able to find something you like. We have eaten at Restaurantasaurus. They serve McDonald's fries, big hot dogs, and McD's happy meals. We have also eaten at Flame tree barbecue. They have chicken, corn on the cob, beans, chicken sandwiches. There is also Pizzafari which serves pizza and I believe salad. We have never been there though. There is also a sit-down restaurant that a lot of people enjoy called Tusker House and the Rain Forest Cafe. You might want to check allears.net for the menus at AK and you can get an idea ahead of time what your family might like.

That restaurant is in Norway at Epcot.

AK also has the incredible Tusker House restaurant, which is my favorite quick-service restaurant in any of the 4 parks. Very very good chicken sandwich.

Ha ha. You caught me! I was just editing my post when I realized I goofed. Sorry about that.

Flame Tree is a great place to eat. Walk down to the pavilion by the lake and you have a great view of Expedition Everest. Tuskerhouse has a good breakfast as does Donald Breakfastsaurus.

We love Tusker House. It is the coolest place (temperature wise) in AK!

We enjoy Tusker House and Pizzafari. Tusker House has a great rotisserie chicken and the DW and I normally split a pizza, pasta, and salad at Pizzafari. Nice carb pick me up during the day. :bounce:

We all enjoy Pizzafari! They have good personal sized pizzas and very good chicken caesar salads! Also, the dining rooms are beautifully painted with different scenes in each room! :Pinkbounc

Another vote for Flame Tree BBQ. Good food and nice to sit by the lake. :drinking1

We love Tusker House - wonderful warm Cinnamon Rolls in the morning!!!! They are also our favorite for lunch; it is such a great escape from the typical chicken fingers/french fry meals. AK offers a meal coupon that allows you a complete meal, bottled drink, and ice cream snack; it is well worth the money. Make sure and look over www.allearsnet.com for menus of the restaurants.

Tusker House is also good for BBQ lovers and has a neat seating area in behind it; it is impressively large and well-themed and a nice place if you want to just sit for a bit; great views, too!

We also have done a first seating at Donald's Breakfastouraus which was a nice character breakfast, but what I liked about it is that we finished before the park actually opened, so we walked right onto Dinosaur/Countdown to Extinction right when it opened. That area of the park stayed pretty uncrowded for a large part of the morning, too.

Hi thanks for the tip, i just wondered if you could tell me where you can get the meal coupon from and what type of discount it is?

Thanks for the help :goodvibes

I was wondering, with the limited dinning options at AK, how long does it take to get from AK to AKL?

I would really like to try out Boma's for dinner while we are there. (maybe I should ask this on the restaurant forum! )

I would recommend eating at Flame Tree Barbecue if it is open then. They have onion rings, corn on the cob, baked beans, delicious barbecued chicken sandwiches, barbecued ribs, and for dessert they have Keylime Pie. My second suggestion wwould be the Tusker House. I hope this helps you out!

They sell churros at a stand in Africa near the bridge.

Takes about 10 minutes to get from Animal Kingdom to the Lodge. If you are driving, less time since you don't have to wait for a bus.

Tusker House, love the chicken sammy. Although the kids meals aren't very good, next time we will get the sammy for the kids and have them split instead.

Also, there is a great fresh fruit stand just before you get to the safari! Enjoy!

There is a small restaurant stand in Asia where the path for Kali River Rapids branches off. I can't think of the real name of it, but it's something like Anandapura Chicken. Anyway, they have a wonderful Thai beef salad and an absolutely fantastic chicken noodle soup that my DD, 2 at the time, ate to the last drop. My DH had the stir fry chicken and rice bowl and said it was quite tasty. The seating is outside on a shady patio with umbrella tables. It was very pleasent and reasonably priced.

I also love Pizzafari, specifically the hot deli sandwich. I love to sit outside if the weather allows and I watch the people go by. If not, I sit in the back room, less noisy than the main room in front.

We love the Hot Deli Sandwich at Pizzafari. Its supr yummy!
