With all of the negative reports of large crowds at the evening EMH's, (haven't seen much on AK). I would love some insight to the AK evening EMH. we are only going for 4 days and have a 1/2 day in the pm on the EMH night planned for AK. Need to know if I need to switch it around with something else. My DD10 and Niece3 are looking forward to the Safari.

I've never experienced an EMH at any of the parks, so I'm just going to bump this back to page one for you, in hopes that some of our veterans can offer advice.

It is the only EMH night hours that I am planning on doing at the end of July. Hopefully someone can give us a first hand account, but from the lack of info about it on the board, I think that is a good sign that is it relatively empty. Or maybe that is just wishful thinking!

Kali river after dark should be really neat especially the area with fire in it.

We went to AK Night EMH a few weeks ago, Tuesday 5/23. It was great. The first hour had 10 minute waits, but by the second hour, we rode Kali 4 times in a row without getting off. EMH was 7 pm to 10 pm, so a later night for AK. I don't know how it will go when AK normally closes at 5.

We did this at the end of May. Most of the rides had short waits or you could just walk right on. The Safari closes early so make sure you do this right away. It was the first time we have ever seen the lion up and walking around. At lot of the animals were more active. I would recommend you go to AK for EMH :flower:

We experienced the same as the 2 previous posters - AKL EMH is so wonderful and relaxing. We went on the safari (closed 1 1/2 hours after actual park closing) and they really took extra time to drive slowly and point and lots and lots of animals. It lasted, probably, twice as long as it does during regular park hours, since they aren't in a huge hurry to get all the crowds on...We didn't wait for anything and this was over the Memorial Day weekend, May 26 - June 3. Since the other 3 parks had unbelieveable crowds at EMH, we'll probably only do AKL from now on.... Have a great time!!! :goodvibes

Hi, we also were there on Tues May 24. We got there around 5:00 and tons of people were leaving. (normal close at 7). We walked right on Dinosour, tough to be a bug. We did the lion king at 6:30 (I think) and then hustled to the safari ride. The last safari ride is 7:30. We had done the early EMH at MGM, then took a break at our room before AK. It worked out GREAT!!

Have fun!

Based on the info in this thread, we are going to try the evening EMH at AK when we go in 8 days. We are excited to try it out and see how it goes because in the past, we have always gone to AK for the early opening and it was too hot to stay past noon.

It may have felt longer because the driver slowed down for better animal viewing, but chances are they probably sped up more than usual in non-animal areas, and it ended up taking about the same amount of time as usual.

We did EMH at AK in mid-May...very low crowds and extremely short or non-existant lines. The day we went, normal closing was at 5 p.m. We rode Kali 3 times without getting off. Compared to the EMH at MK, it was very relaxing!!!!

I may have to change our schedule to include a AK EMH night. I am so bummed that the MK EMH nights have been so crowded. We are night owls and were looking forward to doing Splash at midnight but I refuse to do long lines. :flower:

We were just there 2 Tuesdays ago at the AK Evening magic hours and it was not good. However, if we had known certain things before hand it probably would have been better. First off though get there early enough to get the wristband. They ran out by 7:00 and had people waiting for them for over 30 minutes. The last safari was at 7:30 and they only had one showing of Lion King at 7:30 and only one of Tarzan Rocks at 8:15.

When you got there you were able to get the schedule, but it would have helped to have had it at the resort but the resort did not have it - I had asked and they said it would be at the park.

Have fun!

Lisa :)

Good to see that AK is nice for the evening EMH .I will put it as a must on my schedule. ::MickeyMo

this will be a must for us on our next trip. this is expecially good news because AK is almost our favorite park

We just did EMH evening at AK on Tuesday. It was nice because we got to see the park at night, and it was the only late night we did. We were at MGM for one and left early cause it was a zoo there.

We were at Rafiki's Planet Watch up to regular park closing - 7:00 pm. Then we went over to Kahli and had about a 15-20 minute wait (did baby swap) so took a little time for both groups to ride. Then went over to Dinoland and did Triceratops spin with about a 3-5 minute wait. Primaevil whirl was down - not sure how long, but a lot of people were there just staning around and heading over to do Dinosaur so I think that had line, but not sure how long.

We left AK around 8:50 and there were lots of people there. We got to the POP bus stop and had to wait for 3 buses, which was more than for AK around closing usually. Howevere, the poor All-Stars bus line was backed up to where the AK bus stop sign (the one saying which stop is which resort) was. It was crazy.

Overall AK late night was nice, but I wouldn't say there were walk-ons and no crowds. It must depend on the time of year. I love AK on a regular closing night, then it really clears out and you can catch a late safari right before 7:00 or walk on the trails with no crowds.

Not too many attractions opened - Kahli, All of Dinoland, an extra Tarzan Rocks at 8:15, an extra Festival of the lion king at 7:30, Tough to be a bug, and the last safari ran at 7:30 pm. Most snack carts were closed, and a few counter service(Pizzafari & Restaurantosaurus) were opened but I don't know how late.

To me it seemed like the late nights were where everybody went. I'm glad we did a late night at AK, but I'm also glad we avoided the other ones.
