I was just talking to someone who just returned from florida a week ago and said although they didn't go to disney parts of bush gardens and other petting zoos in the florida area are closed because kids were getting sick, does anyone know if this will effect animal kingdom

It won't. The six affected animals were from Ag-Venture Farm Shows of Plant City which provided petting zoo animals to 3 Florida fairs. It doesn't have anything to do with any of the theme parks. So no problems!

It isn't effecting theme parks and I haven't heard anything about Busch Gardens. I live in FL and this has been on the news and I think if Busch Gardens was involved we would have heard something about it. In fact my best friend just got back from BG a couple days ago and she didn't mention anything either. You shouldn't have anything to worry about.

They have wash stations located all over the petting zoo area at AK. And have a cast memeber to recommend it.

Sorry a little off topic, but i work with e coli in my biology lab today. Of course i work with a girl who rushed throught the whole process and spilled the bacteria on my arm. she sat there and laugh.

But like goofyfreak said there are washing stations all over the petting center.

Theme parks also have much more stringent regulations than the traveling petting zoos do. None of the theme parks have been affected. Incidentally, both DS and I petted the animals from the affected petting zoo at the Florida State Fair, and did not get sick. You should always wash your hands after leaving a petting zoo no matter where it is. As was the case here, an animal can be affected without any kind of sign - without testing or someone getting ill, you would never know the animal was infected.
