Animal Kingdom--dinosaurs Ride

Hi all!

We're looking for a bit of help here... My family and I are headed for WDW in October of this year... My mom and I are wondering about the ride Dinosaurs in Animal Kingdom. We'd like to go, but are worried that it will be too scary! We rode Jarasic Park @ Un. Studios last year and were beyond terrified, is it just as bad? Can anyone help with this? Also, are there any unexpected drops in this ride? My daughter and hubby can handle these scary rides, but don't know if my mom and and I can Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This is a very rough ride as the "vehicle " you are in simulates driving over some very rough terrain. There are also some portions that are designed to shock the riders and can be quite intense and overpowering to some.

I haven't been on it yet (can't wait to go!) but I was talking to my cousin the other day and she said there is a drop (not sure how long or scary) and she also said there are a few parts that can startle you. I have been on Jurassic Park at USIOA, and I think its similar to that ride. Hope this helps!

This is similar to Jurassic Park but more scary as it all takes place inside a building. You are in a 12 passenger jeep that goes through the ride as if you are on a four wheel drive trip through very bumpy terrain. There are sections of darkness with dimly lit dinosaurs "doing their thing" but a couple times the large mean one will suddenly loom out of the darkness and roar at you. Toward the end it gets chaotic with lots of loud (LOUD) noises and roars.

dont waste your time. this is a rubbish ride and Jurassic Park at Universal is much better. To answer your questions I think Dinosaur would be more scary than JP as it is dark for most of the ride. The upside of this is that you dont have to look at the lame looking dinosaurs for very long. It is bumpy but not as bad as the back to the future ride at Universal. If the kids can take the darkness they should be ok. I found it really hard to actually see the dinosaurs as the light just seemed too dark. There are no sudden drops or water surprises.

I agree - out of the two rides - Jurassic Park at Universal Studios was MUCH tamer.

I rode dinosaur many times with my eyes closed (as I"m a big scardy cat)...but DH insisted on me keeping my eyes open once. Seriously - after the 3rd ride...even that starts to get lame after a while.

I love this ride! I cannot do rollercoasters and I don't think this ride is bad at all. There are really no big drops it's just a little rough so you need to hold on. And I don't think it's scary at all. As I said I am not a fast ride person and I laugh and laugh all through the ride.

I guess they upgraded the JP ride at Universal. It was BORING for us. Obviously rubber dinos. I'd take Dinosaur any day. Much better theming. "You're not gonna make it..."

I wonder if they changed this ride, since it appeared, when it first opened. I thought it was less scarey. I remember actaully being stunned, when the big dinosaur came out. But I now noticed it appeared, well before we got "to him". And it looks Soooo fake!
But yes, it's bumpy, like Star Tours is, being rough, however the Dinosaur ride in constant bumps, unlike Star Tours, that pauses.

My 5 yr old rode it about 5 times, couldn't get enough! It was fun and a good ride imo and I am a roller coaster person.
