Tell me about AK at night since RoL began. I am thinking about one weekday evening in the park in May. Should I book any FPs or will I be alright with attractions in standby as it used to be the later the hour, the less crowded or empty the park was?

When I saw the RoL show (1st week of April when there were 2 shows per night), there were very few people in line for anything else. Heck, I walked on Everest. If possible, you should book RoL FP. People were lined up for an hour before the show to secure a seat for the show, and it completely filled up. If you aren't planning on seeing RoL, then you don't need to worry about FP.

Of course any past advice for AK is out the window once Pandora opens on May 27th.

Thanks! If I am able to get a FP for RoL, I will. If not, I will see it another night because I'm able to come back before too long as a Passholder so no big deal to me. I would rather get the experience of AK at night and make that my priority.

Is everything open for the late night hours now? I remember they were debating about certain things like safari staying open.

Just our 2 cents about the safari at night/dusk. It was VERY underwhelming for us. It was hard to see since the lighting is very dim, and there were not very many animals out at all. The only saving grace is that the lions were out a little more than usual. We will skip the safari at night from now on. It is significantly better during the daylight hours in our experience.
