Animal Kingdom at night?

Just noticed that park hours at AK were extended to 8pm on the day we are visiting (previous closing time was 6pm). I've never been at AK that late - do all the attractions stay open until closing? Are any rides particularly cool to ride at night (vs. during the day)? I had read that crowds at AK tend to thin out a lot in the late afternoon - is that still the case when the park is open later? Thanks!

I've also never stayed that late at AK (or even until 5pm for that matter) but I think Kali River Rapids and Expedition Everest would be neat at night. Kilimanjaro Safari probably wouldn't be as exciting...and I'm not sure they'd keep that open until 8pm anyway, but maybe. Will it actually be dark outside at 8pm when you go? I ask, because 8pm in the summer isn't dark out, but in February it is.

Definitely ride Everest! That whole area of the park is particularly pretty when it's all Lott up at night. Safari will still close before sundown, so be sure to check its closing time.

Yes, the sun sets at 7pm that day (in October), accordingly to Google. So at least the last hour should be fully dark. Everest at night sounds awesome. Anyone know if the shows (Lion King, Nemo) will add evening showings?

AK is awesome at night. The walkway and building lighting is amazing. During Holiday season, we often go just to walk around and enjoy the sights....and Everest is a blast and night, especially when it is cooler outside. I can't wait until they extend the evening hours for the new show and ride. it is looking like this could be my favorite park.
