Animal Kingdom arrival evening

We are arriving in Disney late afternoon April 11th. I had booked fp for lion king at 6:00 and safari at 640 and expedition Everest after that for some adults in our party. The park is not recommended that day because rivers of light is that evening. We are not seeing rol nor are we planning staying very late with 2 little ones and early mk the next day. Will we be okay to do our fp stuff and walk around a little or will it be unbearable by that time of day? Would we be better off just hitting an ak on a non rol evening? We will not go in morning not that important to us.

What time is late afternoon? 6 PM is likely too early to make. Travel day is full of uncontrollable delays.
Personally I would go on a non RoL day if you are not interested in that

Yes I agree that should be plenty of time. I don't think of 12:30 as "late afternoon".
