Animal Kingdom addition/BEASTLY KINGDOM RETURNS

Maybe a lot of guests who say I'm crazy saying what I say on Disboards, but maybe these folks do not remember the "Disney of old", which is almost gone. They only know one WDW, and that is todays WDW. They don't remember what it was like all those years ago.......

Some of us have been around long enough to know the difference, and actually expect Disney to maintain its own standards.

They haven't consistently done so in a long time.

After reading how Disney has changed for the worse its very depressing but its true start with no more Pleasure Island for a good laugh at night after a tiring day in the parks .

I do not know how well Beastly Kingdom would actually fit into Animal Kingdom. I like the real/tangible aspect of AK. There are so many more great ideas out there than to resort to dragons, unicorns, etc. MK does the fantasy aspect, Epcot does the imagination, AK should celebrate the wonder of our real world and the opportunities for us to celebrate the living world and save a dying world.
I think AK could use an Arctic World, with Polar Bear studies/research/conservation/encounters. Or as someone else mentioned, the Outback (Australia) would be fun.
Maybe Disney should partner with Discovery Channel and do a Planet Earth IMAX or sensory thrill attraction?
I am not excited about Beastly Kingdom now...but, if it were there, I know I would enjoy it, regardless.

Actually the theme of DAK is Adventure... MK is Fantasy, Epcot is Discovery. This according to Traditions or one of the other myriad of classes and tours I took when I did my first college program.

Beastly Kingdom was supposed to be originally a part of DAK but was cut due to budget reasons at the time. There are bits and pieces in the park of where they started... in the LOGO, a Dragon Cave, etc.

I knew that Beastly was supposed to be part of the park when it opened, but I think it was something that did not work out for the better for the reasons I mentioned above. I think it would actually take away from what the park is and has become. I feel they should go in a different direction. I can see the Adventure aspect of DAK (Everest), but I think there are many elements that fit with the description I gave as well, IMO, of course.

Not saying the elements don't fit what you said... just saying the official imagineer theme is adventure is all.

Personally, I think BK would be an excellent edition, but as you said, that is opinion. I also think Australia or South American Rain Forests would be cool as well.

Yeah, South America! I had not thought of that. I would love that.

Thanks for sharing that about DAK's theme....I had not heard that before. And knowing that now, I can see those elements present in the park.

No problem... I had the fortune to be opening crew for DAk at the TOL. So I have heard a lot of the original stories behind the different areas of the parks... its one of the reason I am one of the few on the boards I know of who will defend Chester and Hesters Dinorama... Because Dinorama brilliantly fits the back story of Dinoland. Unfortunately, I don't think they have the grad student streetmosphere performers any more, which is a shame because they had a great aspect of the story... Dinolands back story is one of my all time favorites at Disney and shows you some of the brilliance of imagineering.

As I said, MK is Fantasy, Epcot is Discovery and DAK is adventure... I can never remember DHS... It isn't a simple one word theme like the others.

I call it a job because I now work harder (when we do go) on a WDW vacation then I ever did at work. If you don't see a problem with wall-to-wall bodies, well that's you. It's only better business for the corporate heads, who rake in the bucks.
Maybe you like to stand on impossible lines,,,,,,,,,we sure as heck do not!

I wonder if you and I even visit the same place? I've been there several times over July 4th, which I think is one of the most crowded times of the year and still managed to have a great time! Sure it gets crowded at times, but it's certainly not "wall-to-wall bodies" and "impossible lines" all the time. Your tendency to exaggeration is ridiculous.

But I'm sure in the "good old days" it was probably a 10 minute wait for Space Mountain all the time, right?

I don't like Chester and Hester's and the boardwalk area at California Adventure because didn't Walt hate carnival type atmosphere? Even if he didn't, I still don't care for them.

you know whats funny, I haven't seen Ratatouille yet

I should have wrote that I agreed with your post and wow it sounded similar to Ratatouille. Someone wrote on here months ago how the famous chef in Ratatouille reminded him alot of Walt Disney.

It's not one of my fav pixar flicks but u should check it out.

I know. It would have been awesome if there wasn't a budget cut, which would've allowed this land to exist (along with Dinoland USA, my favorite land of the area because of Dinosaur The Ride).

I think they should remove the dragon in the logo if there's no dragon in the park.
