HI ALL,

A bit of background. We have been to Disney a few times in the past, last may being our first time onsite, and we fell in love! We are headed back this May with another family joining us. First 5 days onsite @ Disney, second week will be relaxing at a pool house. 4 Adults, 2 boys (7) 2 girls (4). We plan to spend one entire day @ AK. We LOVE this park and could go back more then once if time permitted, on this trip however it does not. So looking for ppl\s opinions on my tentative plan:

Arrive before opening ...

9-10:
Ride Everest
Spend some time on walking trails looking at animals
Get in line for FOTLK (10 AM show)

10-1030: FOTLK

1030-100
Sarafi (FP 1)
Rafiki's Planet Watch
Grab a quick service meal (heading in direction of Kali/Dinosaur)

1-2
Boneyard Fun
Tricertop
Dinosaur (FP2)

2-3
Kali River Rapids (FP 3)
Finding Nemo

3-5
Play it by ear ... Any suggestions for things that I haven't listed? That are must dos? All kids/adults on this trip love animals so we can waste a lot of time looking at animals

5:00 Reservations at Rainforest Cafe (Kids LOVE this restaurant and we don't have one where we live, not a fan of the charcater meal at this park).

Does this seem like reasonable? I'm trying to not go back and forth ... I'm wanting to start on the side of the safaris and make our way over to the other end ... I realize I have to back track a bit for Kali. I could switch up some fast pass's to make that better. Thoughts? Should I make our supper reservations a little earlier? Or will we need those 2 hours?

My only recommendation would be to get a Landry's Select Club card, so you won't need a reservation at Rainforest Cafe and you can be a little more flexible with your plan. The card gets you preferred seating at the Landry's locations in WDW (Rainforest Cafe, Yak and Yeti, T-Rex). You will actually be seated prior to people holding ADR's. You don't need a reservation and therefore won't be subject to the WDW no-show fee if something should happen. The card is $25 (but that $25 is then credited toward your meal. If it's your "birthday month" (and I highly suggest you put down that it IS your birthday month), you get another $25 credit.

With the card, you can show up to eat whenever you are ready and won't feel like you either have to rush there or find something to fill your time.

In terms of your plan, I think it looks good! I would just try to get Flights of Wonder in there (it's awesome). We also love Primeval Whirl and the musicians and dancer in Africa outside Tusker House!

A highlight for our son is always to get a henna tattoo at AK ( on the right outside a little store near the safari). He looks forward to having it during the trip.

If your kids like the rides, you could use that 3-5 time slot for rerides on the headliners as the crowd generally starts to dwindle around 3 pm.

My kids rode Everest 6 times in about 45 minutes one afternoon last summer at about 4 pm. Dinosaur was also a walkon around that time. Kali does keep a line later into the afternoon as many guests prefer to wait until the end of their day to get wet.

One interesting fact we learned recently is that they don't send out Safari vehicles unless they are full. We've had to wait up to 10 minutes for enough guests to arrive to fill the truck later in the day.

Oh really? I had never heard that about the Safari's! Interesting!! My kids like the rides, but also scare easily so its really hit or miss. My little girl LOVES the coasters, and laughs it all off, but her older brother gets a little intimidated. This will be his first time on Everest so I am curious to see how he makes out. She will not be tall enough so even if he loves it I can't see us riding it too many times as it would leave her out. We LOVE Kali, so too bad the line gets too long or that would be a good choice! I just read about River of the lights so I will be interested to see if that opens in time for our Mid May Trip ... def another option for FP!

I think you should try to fit in the Flights of Wonder show. It really is a fun show. My only concern is if you ride Kali and then go watch the Nemo show, you might freeze to death, if they have the AC cranked! Being soaked and then going into the AC...brrr...:-)

Sounds like you are planning a great day! Happy Planning!
