Animal Crossing Issues...

We will do that for sure and it will be quick seeing as we only have 1. :sad2:

I hope Matt got a chance to take a look at our (perfect) town! We don't mind a bit if people peek around. You can look in our houses and see how our Disney characters have their houses set up (at least that day). I change my main floor now and then, but I'm very proud of the kitchen in my basement. My second floor is full of Mario items - maybe someday I'll change the theme on that room.

I have another character, Lovely (my alter-ego). She's like our just out of high school and decided to live on her own character. First floor is Lovely furniture, second floor is cabin mostly. She's working towards paying off her current mortgage.

Greg's basement is his man-den in progress. He has a video game, a pinball game, an asteriod. His second floor though is a perfect Cabana room.

He has a lot of Pave furniture on his first floor (and a lot of other stuff as well).

We have a fountain, and are voting - windmill/lighthouse? (probably lighthouse). Coming soon!

Tell Matt to come and see us again. I can't promise tonight cause it's Dancing with the Stars and The Biggest Loser. Although if we get home early we could open the gate around 6:30-7:00 so tell Matt to check if we're open for company (:

There is a St. Patrick's Day gift today. Pete says it will save you from pinches. If he can't give it to you because your letters are full, toss a letter, then save and restart. -

I also found a new pattern on the web. I have it in Ables so anyone can pick it up if you are over-

Ian...you beat me to it. I started the game and was like "why is Mailman Pete at my door". Then I was like "why is Ninetodo sending me a letter". It is a really cool surprise and expensive....1600 bells worth.

Love the Mickey pattern.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and Nancy and the girls during this time.:grouphug:

Thanks so much Lois! He hardly ever signs on as his character because the friends with perfect towns are under my name so the first thing he does is check the gate (after I yell into check the turnip price! ;) and buy flowers! :) ).

I think we have our second expansions done. We decided that we were going to get our fountain and then payoff our next mortgage, but I think we might go for the lighthouse and then our house expansions, all while trying to work on this town thing which is totally throwing us over the edge. We are not having much hybrid success and our trees don't always grow. I told him next step we are chopping down ALL our trees and starting from scratch!!! :sad1:

I doubt we will have much time tonight as well since we have to watch AI and DWTS. But we are already planning everything we have for the weekend between the fishing tournament on Saturday and Flea Market and Joan on Sunday!!!! My husband works Friday night until late and then from about 2pm-3am on Saturday so we will have crazy amount of AC time!!!

If anyone needs any furniture pieces, just let us know we would be glad to send things over!!!:)

Signs that you're a little too involved in AC:
1) It's raining in your town, so you go to your window at home and check out how bad the weather really is (of course it would be bright sunshine).
2) You find a lost, crying kitten and want to call Child Welfare authorities on the mother.
3) You invite a neighbor over, and get really annoyed when they don't show up.
4) You spend time at work thinking up new catch-phrases, preferably in foreign languages.
5) The fact that I think we need a screenplay for Ian's conspiracy theory, "The Turnip Connection".
:lmao:

I have another one:

When you are outside and see a bird out of the corner of your eye and for just a second you think that it could be a present floating by.

One more....

You know what time it is by the AC background music that is playing. Our favorite is the 8:00pm loop. :) Its very relaxing. And it even sounds like "A Whole New World" at times.

I have a couple of gate questions...

- When I opened my gate last week, Copper asked me if I was sure (or something like that) because someone else had their gate open too. Is he warning me because I could get people wandering around my town who aren't my "friends"?

- Can I leave my gate open when I save and close the game? To do this, would I just set my gate to open and then save the game? I guess the only downside is that someone could come and really do some remodelling on my town?

Lois - I love visiting everyone's town! I wish I had more time to spend on A/C but I'm training for a 1/2 marathon so that takes up most of my nights. I always feel like a dork when I visit and can only spend 10 or so wandering around.

No one can come into your town unless you have their friend code and they have yours. The gate guy is telling you that one of your friends has their gate open, so you can visit them instead of opening your gate.

Once you save your game and close, you will have to reopen your gate. Your gate won't stay open when you close down the game. Some players, if they aren't playing, may open their gates and let their "friends" come in and look around. Nancy and Ian do this all the time. They aren't able to play because they have another activity, so they may leave their gate open. They know who their friends are so, if something is missing they can check with each of their friends. When I visit, I usually leave a note on their bulletin board to let them know that I came by. Most players know not to "borrow" flowers or steal anything. It is basically on an honor system.

We did this for the first time this weekend, it was fun coming home and seeing that our town had had visitors! Even if we weren't around to entertain them.;)

We visited Gusitown this weekend too, I think Nancy and Ian were out with Jan and her husband (also AC players).

Oh okay ... so they're basically leaving their Wii and AC running.

Thanks Melissa!

I saw that you too had left a note on their bulletin board. I think it is neat to read messages left by guests. I do this with each town I visit. It is just something neat for the town owners.

Here is a .pdf tutorial on how to set up your Wii so that you can take your AC town file to the PC and edit it. I tried to spell everything out and included a lot of pictures. Let me know if you have any questions. It doesn't take that long to complete the actual steps. Most of the time for me was spent reading about the next step and making sure I understood it.

Hacking Animal Crossing

If what you enjoy about Animal Crossing is finishing collections, achieving goals like a complete catalog, or other types of "winning" the game, then this can spoil the fun by making it too easy. If you are still paying mortgages, making donations, etc. I would suggest achieving those goals first. It motivates you to explore various possibilities, like designing money making orchards or going online to find other towns with high turnip prices. We needed more flowers than 7 a day from Nookingtons, so I traded my stone path patterns for pockets of flowers to people on Animal Crossing Community. In the process I saw some cool towns and met fun people to play with.

If you enjoy using Animal Crossing as a creative outlet, then this opens up a lot of possibilties, both in designing a really cool town and even coming up with new Animal Crossing games like "Orchard Wars". I think I would like to host one of these sometime, check it out-

Orchard Wars

The footrace also looks fun-

I noticed this over in Nancy & Ian's town the other night and thought it was a neat idea!! I did it for Lois when we stopped in to visit. We are working on getting a new router so then maybe we can leave ours on sometime too!! We are constantly losing our internet connection. :headache: :headache:

I never noticed that the music is different at different times of the day. I will have to be more attentive of that. Sometimes I was playing without AC sounds so that I can listen to the tv or something else at the same time, but then I don't hear the balloons flying buy. And my DS likes the Mario items, so I stopped doing that.

Thats it. We are done. We are closing down Wishes due to total frustration with this game. We plant and plant and plant and nothing. We got one teaser hybrid flower and now nothing. Our trees that we are planting in our acres toward this perfect town.....don't grow. We don't have them touching rocks, trees, signs..NOTHING. Pretty soon I am going to jump over the counter and deck that Pelly.

We get neighbors that we like coming up telling us they are moving on...we beg..they stay. However the couple that we would not mind leaving...:rolleyes1 just keep hangin around.

Our turnip prices...just totally suck. Therefore we are not making the bells so that we can buy mass quanities and sell them and make our zillions.

Maybe when we get our fountain in the next couple of days that will boost the morale in Wishes and we will enjoy it.:cloud9: But with our luck, all the flowers that we planted up that way will be lost when the fountain comes.

Thank you for letting me vent. :)

Lisa:

Let me know when you will be playing. I will come over and see what I can help you with. My town was the same way. I have played everyday, since Dec 26, 2008. I marked off the acres, counted the trees and flowers...and nothing. Then one day in March while I was watering the flowers, I spotted a Jacob's Ladder and Pelly told me it was perfect. I had no idea because the night before she told me I was at a C-.

Let me know. I will show you what I did that might help.

Noooo, don't quit. Our turnip prices have never gotten higher than 2 hundred something bells and I still think having the perfect town was just luck on our part. Come on over for a cup of tea, ok, we can't really make a cup of tea, but pretend. and that article about AC and grown-ups - we're all in deep doo doo now, aren't we :rotfl2:
