Animal Crossing-City Folk

We are loving June!! Love the new bugs and the new fish! The fireflies are my favorite. I did not even want to catch one after we donated our first one because they look so neat flying all around! We have had some trouble with whatever this big thing that flies out of the trees. You just walk by the tree and it flies out and you have no time to catch it! Then of course there is the truantula!!:scared1::scared1:

I think I've seen that, too, and could never figure out what it was. Anyone have any insight?

The tarantula got me tonight. I didn't even see it (I was concentrating on fishing). Grrrrrr..... I hate that thing.

I was also in a bit of a bug and fish drought tonight. I was going to open my gate, but it was the kids' turn to play so I gave it up. But after they go to bed.... :rolleyes1

If the bug sounds like a bird taking off, then it's probably the Oak Silk Moth (or moff as my 3-year old calls it.) You have to go really slow to catch it, and it blends in pretty well with the trees.

I have pretty much figured I will not be catching the turantula or that darn scorpion. They bite me before I even realize they are there! :headache:

I don't think I have caught that one. I still need many insects.

Bug catching went a bit better last night... I was able to catch the bird-sized moth! I still haven't seen any tarantulas... are they out in June... and they bite you? :scared1: I was also able to catch a piranha last night! :cool1: I still haven't seen any of the finned fish though.

I just ordered my game today (yes behind times) So i would love to be able to visit some of your towns. The game isnt due to come till next week :(

If anyone wants to trade codes with me that would be great :)

I had Animal Crossing for the DS too and I loved it and love the Wii version more, I bought Wii Speak but never use it. Welcome to this thread!

I really like the wii speak since it takes me forever to type on the game. I also love hearing other people's accents... it's fun! You'll have to let us know when your game comes in and you get all set up so that we can swap codes! :goodvibes

Is it brown and the size of a bird/bat? If so, it is a lantern bug - I finally caught one the other night after being scared to death when one first flew off the tree with a big whoosh :)

I like it waaaaaay better on the Wii. I also love the speak - it's so much easier than typing! Let us know when you get your code...I'm happy to swap with you!

Oh, and for the record, I don't have an accent. :confused3:laughing:

Vicky - I was cracking up earlier when Matthew was saying he was "desperate" for a silver watering can. According to him, you always buy the flowers first so he can't get one. :rotfl: I'd give the sweet boy my silver one but I've started using it daily because I kept accidentally turning my precious few black roses into golden ones.

Paging Susan.....Susan?? Hellllllloooooooooooooooo..........SUUUUUUUSAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!!!!!

Are you still on your business trip? Good grief, it seems like it's been forever. Hurry back, will ya? Vicky and I can only talk trash about you for so long you know?!:lmao:

That has to be it. That is what my son says when it takes off!! It looked like a bird or bat. So the trick is you just have to have your net ready and walk slow around the trees? He has never been able to see it in the tree, only when it flies away.

I have much better luck spotting them from a distance. The most important thing is that you have to creep up REALLY slowly to catch both the oak silk moth (the bigger, wider one) and the lantern fly. Try cruising up and down your river while looking at the trees on the other side of the water. Also, if you have trees in the northern sections of your town that have an unobstructed view when approaching from the south, keep a lookout on the trees in the distance instead of the ones right by you on the path (if that makes sense!). Once you are anywhere it, even regular walking will scare it away. That's why you have to spot them from a distance and then tiptoe/creep slowly up to them. They both spread their wings when alerted to your presence, so if they do that, then stop moving and wait for the wings to go down before you start creeping up again. Hope that helps someone. Once I figured all of this out, I started catching them left and right. :) However, I do scare them away still sometimes when I am not looking for them and nearly wet myself every time.

:lmao::rotfl2:

I figured out something about the waving to neighbors, you don't have to be across the water. You just have to be a distance away from them. I was standing no where near water and pointed at a neighbor, I waved and they bowed back. I've tried it a few times since then. If you're too close, you'll start to move towards them. You pretty much have to be at the bottom of the screen and they at the top (maybe vice-versa.)

anyone have a friend code to exchange ,my daughter wants to visit someone's town, lol, she has oranges and wants other fruit too

That is so cool! :cool1: I have tried it, but so far I just walk toward them. I'll have to keep practicing. So, how do you "wave"? Do you shake the Wii remote in a wave motion? I'll keep trying... Thanks for sharing your info!!

Sure - here is mine. I have all of the fruits and she can take as much as she wants. She can take multiple trips if she wants to strip the trees! She can pick and sell in my town too to make quick bells but cherries are my native so they will only sell for 100 bells.

town: Seattle
name: Keri
code: 2364-0911-7373

Hold B button so your tools don't block the view, then point the wiimote at your neighbor and click A. It's really cute - even the grumpy ones get this big dopey grin. :goodvibes
