I tired to read the LOTR books years ago and couldn't get into them so have no interest in the movies.

Have to go run Andrew from tennis practice to tennis lessons.

Carol, it's funny I tried reading the books a long time ago and couldn't get through them... I eventually did though. My DH has never been able to get through the LOTR books either but loves the movie as well. I guess it's something you can really appreciate w/o reading them

Mom ended up going shopping with me after we picked up the packet of pictures. (By the way, they sent us some cute pictures of my dad!)

So we ran around Oklahoma City in the pouring rain. Mom got all of Amy's birthday gifts taken care of. I got David some new shorts for the trip and Amy a few dresses for spring. I still didn't find the leopard luggage. Oh well.

We finally headed back home in time to get Amy from school. Just as we got in line of cars at her school, David called me to inform me that all of Norman's schools were in lock-down mode. I guess a tornado had come through town while we were in the city. Luckily it didn't touch down, but the kids had to take cover for two hours because of all the funnels. I had to go in to check Amy out. I'm thankful that they say the severe weather is over for tonight and we didn't blow away. I believe the rain has stopped as well. I have to agree with Alan. This looks like spring to me.

We are eating some chicken and noodles and then we're taking Amy to the All City band practice. It's been busy day.

E, I'll make room in my suitcase.

SB, I really hope you win. And if you guys go to Vegas, can I just send my money with you to bet it for me? The winnings might pay to send me back to Orlando.

MP - that sounded really scary w/ the tornados. how often do they appear? I'm glad everyone was o.k.

We live in tornado alley. We get threats of severe weather off and on from March through May/June. We get them other times during the year, but seldom. The funny thing is that they don't build houses in our area with basements and few have storm cellars either. We've had several big tornados in the past few years so some builders are adding "safe rooms". We don't have any place to take cover in our house. Just an interior bathroom.

You all know that Lew is a weather-nut...and tornados and hurricanes are a special love for him....besides me that is! We've had a few hurricanes hit us in RI....and lots of others he's tracked. He also went to school in St. Louis so he could get his tornado fix....or in his case tornado warnings. The closest he actually came to one was about 5 miles and he saw the start of the funnel cloud. His claim to fame was that when the siren went off, instead of retreating to the center of the dorm.....he and his buddies would run to the windows to watch!
