Angelrose's Journey

That is A LOT of walking AngelRose! Sorry to hear that Zoey is not feeling well.

Sounds like a great Mother's Day!

I'm in the pine barrens and the pollen is awful. We tried to wash the car and it was completely covered in yellow dust before it was dry. My porch looks like someone poured yellow talcum powder all over it. We can't open the windows for at least another week.

Do you watch Dancing With the Stars? I was so happy for Maks last night! :cool1:

Thanks debknight. I like to keep active but I really hate weed whacking and blowing off the yard and driveway. I only have to do the blowing off twice a year. Once for the strings and once for the leaves. The weed whacking I have to do every couple of weeks. Late in the summer, I just leave it go. I just can't handle yard work in the heat and humidity.

Thanks snappyd. I did have a wonderful Mother's Day. I have been trying to do that 10,000 steps every day. I do it most days. I know I won't do it tomorrow. That's my day of rest and shopping. If we go swimming on Sunday I won't get in the steps but I will be swimming for an hour instead. Karen will let me know if the pool will be open on Sunday.

Zoey is almost done this round of antibiotics for the ear infection and strep. She does pretty well, but she does try to take advantage of not feeling well. LOL Sad to say it doesn't work on Grandmom either.

Hello Ladies! I've been AWOL. Very busy being a GRANDMA!!! Our little Benjamin was born on April 23. My daughter-in-law didn't have a C-section, but she's had a rough recovery. Hopefully, everything is progressing as it should be now. Little Ben looks so much like his Daddy, right down to the little dimple in his chin! What a joy he is. Only a few weeks of work left for me, then I leave the job to be Ben's fulltime caregiver starting in August. I'm looking forward to it. (I have back-up from DDIL's mom and sister.)

Angelrose - I get exhausted reading about some of your days. You get a lot done. I hope Zoey is better.

I'm off to read your Trip Report.

BIG congrats minniecarousel on being a new Grandma! It's the greatest thing in the world! Hope your daughter in law starts to feel better.

I got another 14,193 steps in today. I love this Fitbit. It just gives me that disapproving look when I don't get in my 10,000 steps each day.

Monday morning I spent blowing the strings off the front yard and driveway. I was exhausted after only an hour and a half. But the Fitbit didn't register my arm movements that well. It doesn't take into account the weight of what I'm swinging. Oh well, nothing is perfect. But I'm glad that is done. With the rain we've had, I need to go back out in a few days and do more weed whacking. GRUMBLE!

Zoey is doing much better now. Jesse is doing so well in reading. I'm so proud of him. Sometimes I forget he's just in kindergarten.

Yesterday I had an interesting day. Did I mention that I HATE interesting days?

Friday I had noticed my water pump was going off more than usual. I went down the basement and no water, no pipes leaking, so I was happy.

Monday I did my workout and did my 10,000 steps. Then I ran outside and trimmed up a few bushes. When I came back in, I noticed the water pump was still going off a lot. So I went down the basement to dine 2 inches of water. OH NOOOOOOOOOO No pipes were leaking, however my hot water heating was squirting out water. I JUST got it in 2011.

I called my plumber and he said that it was still under warranty so I would just have to pay for installation and labor. Great!

He came in two hours, replaced the old one and did manage to get out some of the water on the floor. It still cost me $200.

I figured I would deal with the water today. I picked up Jesse and then we went to swim team practice. Karen went for a run and I walked.

That is one long walk!

This morning I got up early and went right down with the sump pump and started using the big broom to push the water towards the pump. I was so exhausted that I just left it and called Chuck.. He told me to rest, it didn't have to all be done today. It can't hurt anything. I have the fans working to help dry out the walls and everything. I will just do a little bit every day and he will come on Friday to get the rest out.

The only good thing is that Monday I walked 26,871 steps! With all the pacing I was doing, I thought it should be at least a million!

Hope everyone is doing well. Zoey continues to be completely over her sickness. Jesse is doing so well in Kindergarten. I won't be doing much walking the rest of the week. I overdid yesterday and today.

Oh no, what is worse than a leak in the basement?? Hope you are all dried out by now.

We had a problem every time it rained heavy - the water was starting to run down the wall in the basement. We didn't have a pump and one day I actually sat on the bottom step with a turkey baster and a bucket trying to get the water out. :headache: We told our neighbor and he fixed it for us, thank goodness.

Looks like a rainy week, at least the grass will be happy.

Glad the grandkids are doing well - when is the next vacation? :wave2: :wave2:

Thanks snappyd. With three fans going and me vacuuming it up, it was finally dry yesterday.

Although when I went down today, I noticed a spot I had missed and it's still pretty wet. I'll have to deal with that tomorrow.

My pool man came and opened the pool late in the afternoon on the 4th. I had to leave to pick up Jesse when they had just started. I gave him his check as I was leaving. When I got back I noticed he hadn't put the solar cover on. The next day I put the filter on and there was water going all over from it. EEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKK :furious: :faint:

I called him very day for three days. No answer. So I finally took a closer look to see where it was coming from. ummmmmm All I had to do was turn one little knob to close it. I also tightened up some screws on the solar panels that he forgot.

I called him that night and told him I had fixed the filter and all he had to do was put on the solar cover and then wouldn't have to hear from me until the fall. I'm sure he was pleased to hear that. He came last night while I was at Chuck's and my solar cover was on. YIPPEE!

I have all the chemicals in now and all I have to do is wait until the water gets warm enough for me to get in and vacuum up the dirt and scum on the bottom. It wasn't as bad as some years, so I'm happy about that.

I'm looking forward to the summer. I won't have to go pick up Jesse every day. That does get to be hard on me. Next week he has a couple of early dismissals and then he's done on the 23. They had to make up all those snow days.

Good morning! It's pouring rain right now, but they are predicting a nice weekend :thumbsup2

Hope you have a chance to get into that pool! :beach:

Good evening snappyd. I was babysitting last night and didn't get a chance to come on here. It showered a few times here yesterday but that was it.

Trying to get Zoey to sleep last night. After 6 hugs and kisses good night and "I love you's" I told her to lay down, close her eyes and go to sleep. Then she went into this long rambling story about how she got "trophies" for being a good girl. And then she repeated it a different way. GO TO SLEEP. Grandmom I need another hug goodnight. OK hugs and kisses and I love you's yet again. Now GO TO SLEEP. Grandmom why are you yelling at me?? :lmao: Because you are not listening. GO TO SLEEP.

I closed her door and went downstairs. Silence. For almost 3 minutes. Then I hear her singing. GO TO SLEEP. Silence. Another 3 minutes and I hear her moving around. sighhhhhhhhhh

I get Jesse from his friends house and get him ready for bed. Hugs and kisses and I almost got out the door. Grandmom where is my hug? Did you lose it?? So another hug and kiss goodnight. Grandmom where is my hug?? It flew out the window, now GO TO SLEEP.

I go downstairs and have 10 minutes of peace. Then Karen and Chuck come home with their groceries. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand the kids come running downstairs to get a hug and kiss from mommy and daddy.

I left them to it.

Today I got my hair done, which is always a good time for me. I just came home and sat and watched tv the rest of the day. No 10,000 steps today.

My doctor called the other day that he got my dexascan back and wants to see me. My hip has been hurting when I walk so I have a feeling I'm going to have to take Fosamax or something like it. At least I hope that's all it is. I hope I don't need a hip replacement. Not ready for that.

The basement is finally all dry. Thank goodness.

Tomorrow I hope to get in the pool and vacuum the bottom and the sides. I just can't get my hair wet. The water is warm enough that I can get in. I put it off this afternoon because, well, I was lazy. So there!

Wow, the days seem long but another week flew by without me posting!

Looks like another nice weekend is in store for us :cool1: We have managed to sit at the beach for two hours the past two Saturdays. Love to go there and stop at the fish market for some nice fresh scallops and shrimp for dinner.

I've had some mysterious pains in my legs the past couple of weeks :confused3 My shins are aching, then it moved to my feet. If it doesn't let up I'll go to the doctor next week. Seems I'm overdue for my teeth cleaning, mammogram, etc. Just can't get motivated to make the appointments this year.

Hope everyone has a really great weekend!!

Hi snappyd. It's going to be cool here for the weekend. Glad you got to go to the beach and relax. I've been in the pool once to clean it out and once to actually swim. Then it turned cool the last few days or rainy.

Chuck came over this morning to help me clean out the filter and backwash. He even adjusted my hot water heater up for me. They never have it hot enough when they install it. Now it's perfect.

After he left, I decided it wasn't too late to go for pancakes and shopping. I was home by 11:30. I had gotten up at 6 so I could do my 5 mile workout before Chuck came. I got in my 10,000 steps early.

The rest of the day, I vegged in front of the tv. It was too cool to get in the pool and will be again tomorrow and probably Sunday.

Tomorrow I will get some things done around the house and Karen is going to call me when she gets home and we can take the kids to Storybook Land for the afternoon. When we get back I will babysit while they go grocery shopping.

Sunday I think we will go swimming at the indoor pool in Brigantine.

Monday is Jesse's last day of Kindergarten. I have to pick him up at 1:45 and play with him until Chuck and Karen get home. I'm not sure if there will be swim team practice on Monday. If there is, I will get more steps in as I walk around Brigantine while Karen runs.

I just love being busy. I just hope it eventually gets warm enough for me to get in the pool every day.

Now Missy, you get yourself to get that mammogram and see to your teeth and your legs. No excuses. Your health is IMPORTANT!

Today was Ron's birthday. He would have been 79. But I made it through the day without crying.

I did my 5 mile workout and then had a half hour swim this morning and an hour and a half swim this afternoon. It felt really good and I tired myself out so that I will sleep well tonight.

Yesterday was Jesse's last day of kindergarten. I picked him up for the last time and we played sword fighting and me chasing him around trying to steal his "treasure". Then I would act so surprised when he was in back of me. Oh to hear him laugh. I treasure these moments. Pretty soon he will be too old for games with grandmom.

After dinner we took the kids to Ocean City for the rides and then we went to play mini golf. We walked and walked to find the pirate mini golf, only to find out it wasn't a mini golf place at all. So we walked alllllll the way back to find another one.

I think I may have broken 2,000 on that 18 holes. Maybe I should do like Zoey and just pick up the ball and put it in the hole and smile. :rotfl:

We were very good and didn't get any Kohr Bros frozen custard. WAHHHHHHHHHH I really wanted it too. I hate being good.

The kids were practically falling asleep by the time we got home at 9. By the time I got home it was a little after 9:30. I was so tired I fell asleep watching the news.

Tomorrow I will watch Jesse at his swim meet. I hope he behaves this time.

I thought you would like to see pictures of Jesse's Mohawk.

He was so thrilled.

Here is Jesse's Kindergarten year. You can see how much he's grown.

Wow, that is some hairdo! What did they put in his hair to make it stand up like that?

Hi debknight. It's some kind of special gel that they use. It's made especially for that kind of haircut.

They couldn't find the one that they usually use, so tried something called "Glue". Bad idea. They couldn't get it out of his hair. They had to wash it over and over again. They finally found this gel that works fine and washes out easily.

I had a nice day. I had my IHOP pancakes and did some shopping at Walmart. I made it to the doctors office 20 minutes early so had time to read my Kindle.

Then the nurse got me to get my BP and ask the usual questions. The doctor will be with you shortly. Sure. I got off the exam table, sat on the chair and read my Kindle. 15 minutes later, the doctor comes in.

I had osteopenia (s?) and osteoporosis in my left hip. I told him I was having pain in my right hip. Oh you have osteoarthritis there. Oh goody, I didn't want the right hip to get jealous. So he ordered the generic of Boniva for me to take once a month. I had been hoping that I wouldn't need anything for a few more years, but I can't have a broken hip in my future if I can help it.

I came home, put on sunscreen and swam in the pool for two hours. I had planned on just an hour but it felt so good that I thought maybe another 15. Then another 15 and pretty soon it was two hours and I was tired.

I think I would have stayed in a bit more, but I didn't want to push it this early in the season.

Tomorrow I'm going to do my grocery shopping and then back in the pool. I will be babysitting tomorrow night while the kids have a date night. That should be fun.

snappyd, I want to hear that you got your doctors visits taken care of!

Hi Angelrose! Love Jessie's hair. My brother has triplets (1 girl/2 boys, now age 16) & one of the boys had a Mohawk and would sometimes use colored hair gel. He had fun with it & it doesn't have to always be straight up.

That swimming you do is so good for your hips. Keep up the good work!

It looks like my son in NY will be here in August for some training. Hopefully, his wife will be able to come along. They're anxious to meet their nephew. Ben is 2 months old and he's getting more "interactive". He'll smile and coo& his mama swears he laughed the other day. Like I told them at work: they've been replaced by a baby!

Thanks miniiecarousel. Jesse hasn't asked for colors yet :scared: I can just see him with purple hair. Let that be a few years from now.

Glad that you will be able to visit with your son this August.

I do love to swim. That's the only time that nothing hurts. I love summer time.
