Angelrose's Journey

Sorry my friends. I have been busy babysitting and trying to get all the pictures from my trip uploaded to Shutterfly. There were a LOT. I still have more to go and then I should be finally able to get it posted. I'm sorry for such a long delay.

Chuck got me set up with the laptop but he still needs to do a few more things.

Zoey is feeling much better and last night at swim team practice she was very naughty and wouldn't listen to me at all and when I tried to get her into the shower, she just cried for MOMMMEEEEEEEEEEE. Yeah, it wasn't fun. Jesse was in rare form too, so Karen had her hands full with him while I wrestled with Zoey.

Zoey had something called HSP. It is a nasty. The blood vessels burst and that could be very dangerous. She had a relapse right after I posted that she was fine. Karen had to take her to CHOP (Children's Hospital of Phila) for blood tests. It was the local branch. Then she had to go to Atlantic City Hospital to get an IV of antibiotics. It was a very scary time. I had never heard of this HSP before, but it is dangerous. If blood vessels burst in the lungs or stomach or liver it could be life threatening. She is feeling much better now, but the symptoms could last for a month and then she could get it again in 4 months time. It's not contagious though. It's just a complication of strep.

I haven't forgotten my dear friends here. I will be posting more often now.

Oh my goodness, prayers for Zoey. How scary for all of you.

I'm glad to know YOU are ok, I was beginning to worry. It looks like spring is finally peeking out from behind winter :flower3: :flower3:

Oh my! I've missed a lot! Sorry to hear that Zoey was ill - sounds like scarey stuff. I hope there are no more relapses for her.

Snapppyd - I hope you're feeling much better.

I had my lasik done yesterday. One word: WOW! I went the monovision route, since I'm naturally near-sighted in one eye and far-sighted in the other. I just didn't want to go the usual fix-the-site-for-distance-and-wear-reading-glasses route. I want to be able to see my cell-phone without having to grab reading glasses...I want to see my grandson's sweet face without glasses!

Word is getting out at work that I will not return next school year. I've made copies at this high school for 18 years! (but it's not retirement when you don't get actual retirement $$!) I am so excited to be my grandson's caregiver when my son and daughter-in-law work. (still waiting for the little guy make his entrance.)

Wow, so you can see up close as well as distance? That's awesome.

I had mine done about 9 years ago, but now I need reading glasses and driving at night seems to be becoming a problem. Just haven't found the time to see if they can do another correction.

Hope the little guy arrives soon! :thumbsup2

Thanks snappyd and Minniecarousel. We just hope she continues to be fine.

Minniecarousel, that is great that you had the lasik and it is such an improvement for you. Karen had it done and it was a success for her too. Sadly I am not a candidate for it. I'm too old and I have such a bad astigmatism that it is not feasible.

Tonight we're going to get the kids Easter pictures done along with their cowboy/cowgirl and super hero costumes. It should be fun.

I FINALLY got all the pictures uploaded into Shutterfly. Now all I have to do is organize the pictures with each day and I can start posting it.

Whoever thought it would so looooooong to post a trip report??

I apologize again for that. Soon, I tell you, SOON.

We'll be here when you are ready. Just think, by the time you finish this trip report you will be that much closer to the next one!

It's finally done! My trip report is all posted.

I hope you enjoy it. Just follow the link in my signature.

Mary, thanks so much for posting about your adventures at Disney. It was great reading your report. I posted my comments over on that thread but I have to say, I don't think I could have kept up with you all week. I would have been exhausted!!!

I just read the entire trip report, it was wonderful!!! Thank you! :goodvibes

Thank you rapriebe. I replied there too. Believe me, I slept VERY well on that trip.

Thank you snappyd, I'm so glad you enjoyed it.

Last night was the Swim Team awards dinner. Here are a couple of pictures.

Jesse won his award for being "The Most Energetic". LOL

Zoey won a certificate for being the "Best Sister".

Needless to say they were both thrilled. It was a fun night.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all my dear friends.

I've been busy babysitting. Yesterday I had my breakfast at IHOP, did some shopping and came home. At 1:50, I drove to Jesse's school for "Muffins for Mom and Donuts for Dad". It was really cute. As soon as I went in the door, Jesse shouted "Hi Grandmom" "I'm not allowed to hug you until later". LOL

They all sang a song and then told why they loved their family. Then I sat next to Jesse and we ate mini muffins and mini donuts. After that he painted a clam shell for his mom. Then they all went out to play and I had to stay.

I had to stay and watch him get on the bus so I could wave to him. I was finally able to find my car and drove home.

I was just about to put on my jammies when Chuck called to ask if I could babysit while they went out to dinner and did some shopping in about an hour. Oh myyyyy. So off I went.

Zoey has another bout of the HSP. So it's back to tylenol and Advil every four hours. Poor kid has really been through the ringer this year.

Then she informed me that she could watch anything she wanted because she was sick. UHHHHHHHHHHH No it doesn't work that way. You both take turns on what to watch. Boy she really tries to work the system!

They both were very good and then it was bed time. I can't tell you how many times I went back upstairs to tell Zoey to stay in her room and go to sleep! Then Jesse was up because his sister was up. It took an hour and they finally were asleep.

I got some reading done and then Chuck and Karen came home. I didn't get home until 9:30. I was so tired.

This morning I got up early to do some grocery shopping before my 8:30 appointment to get my hair done. I even got there early. It was a nice visit with my girlfriend while she did my hair. I came home and gathered up the trash and went to the dump. Since I didn't get everything I needed at the big grocery store, I went to my usual grocery store and picked up the last few things.

My total was $19.45. I laughed and told the girl that was the year I was born. She couldn't believe me when I told her I was going to 69 at the end of the month. She told me she thought I was late 40's. I could have kissed her. :lmao: That made my day for sure.

I had my lunch and watched tv for a couple of hours, then steamed up my broccoli and cauliflower and baked some turkey meatballs. YUMMM

That was the last thing I did.

Tomorrow they are going to pick me up a little before 11. Karen is giving me a Fitbit for Mother's day. It's a bracelet that is a pedometer. Maybe it will encourage me to be more active. We are going out for lunch and then taking the kids on the Ocean City boardwalk for a few hours.

I guess it was on Wednesday that Karen came home early. They were all going for haircuts at the mall. Karen asked me if I wanted to come. I was going to say no, when Jesse said, "Oh please come with us Grandmom". Now how could I say no to that?? We had lunch at the food court. Karen and I got a Greek salad and we brought our own zero calorie dressing.

We walked around for a while and then Chuck said, "Mom, you have to see this". It was a lot of Dr. Who souvenirs. Well, Chuck and I are both big Dr. Who fans. So I picked out a little "Tardis" (time and space vehicle) and some Angel earrings that was in one of the scariest episodes. I was looking at a necklace and Chuck picked it out and said it was for Mother's day. He said, "My gift to you is better than Karen's". LOL It was a fun night.

So I hope you all have a wonderful Mother's day and enjoy every minute of it.

Happy Mother's Day to you too AngelRose. It is always such a pleasure to read your posts, thank you for that.

Thank you debknight. I'm glad you like reading about me and my family.

I had a wonderful Mother's Day with the family. We went to Olive Garden for lunch and then we went to Ocean City boardwalk for the amusement park. Jesse loves the rides but Zoey is still a little scared of most of them. We also played miniature golf. I had a hole in one! But most were hole in 6 or 7. I'm not ready for the Masters tournament yet.

We walked and WALKED. I have a new Fitbit that they gave me for Mother's Day and my birthday. Karen downloaded it to my computer this morning and I won my first 5,000 step badge. I actually did 6,648 steps today. That is a big deal for me. Of course now, my left ankle isn't speaking to me, neither is my right knee or hip. My advice dear friends is......DON'T GET OLD!

I'm really liking this Fitbit bracelet. Monday I got my first 10,000 step badge. I did 13,839 steps. Tuesday I did 14,888 steps and today I did 12,688. I just love to feel that vibration when you hit 10,000 steps. It encourages me to do at least that amount. I do feel better exercising. Next week, I have to get busy with the weed whacker and blowing off the oak stringies from the back porch and blacktop, the front yard, porch and the long driveway. I still have to get the leaves and strings off of the pool cover. So I'm sure I will be getting plenty of exercise.

Just a couple more weeks until my pool is opened. That will be wonderful. I probably won't be able to get in until the second or the third week in June. But it's getting close.

Hello my friends. I have been very busy these last few days. I have been weed whacking and then blowing off the oak strings from the back. Today I weed whacked all of the front and all the way down the long driveway. I have to use two extension cords which is a hassle to rewind. I didn't get to blowing off the strings this morning, so I just left the extension cords in the front yard. I will get to them tomorrow. Hopefully I can get all that done.

Then the only thing I have to do is get the leaves out of the pool winter cover and add some more water. The pool man is coming June 4th to get the cover off and attack all the hoses and the filter. Then when the water gets warm enough I can get in to vacuum all of the leaves and gunk off the bottom.

I probably won't get to actually swim until the middle of June. But I will be glad when that happens.

My little Zoey has another ear infection and strep, so is on a stronger antibiotic and double the does. Poor thing. She has really been through the ringer this year with this HSP.

I have been doing well with the Fitbit bracelet. I really try and get in my 10,000 steps each day but sometimes I don't make it. Today after all that hard work I only got 9,578 steps. LOL So close! But I was just too wiped to take a walk this afternoon.

Hope everyone is doing well.
