My class always adopts two angels, both age 8, from the Angel tree at church for our Christmas giving.
This year's kids have brought in over $400 (!!!) so we got a few more angels!
All that was left today were Girls age 15 and 13 and a Boy, age 12.
My own kids are older and younger than that, so I need some ideas, please! We'll spend about $60 or so on each gift.
Needs to be ONE gift, not a bunch of little gifts.

Can you help us with some ideas??

Thanks!

Do you have clothes sizes at all? I know it may not be practical but my nephew13 wanted a named brand hoodie and it ended up costing about $50. You know kids and their labels, it might make their day.

I was actually going to suggest gift cards to the local mall. I have a 15 yo dd and her very favorite thing to get is clothes. She's always tickled with a gift card because she can go pick out exactly what she wants--and she'll search around for sales to get the most for her money. It's not what I would want to open on my birthday or Christmas but she loves it.

No sizes,, no requests, nothing. I may do the gift cards, but my class wants to get a "thing".... you know.....

i would suggest against buying anything that requires or encourages additional purchases to enhance the use (gameboys, cd players...) most of the children in these programs do not have the resources nor do their families to purchase these items so the longevity of their use is limited. i would also suggest against gift cards-i believe that it would be better to determine an actual gift for the recipient (i think the idea of opening a gift is much more enjoyable-and you don't know what kind of limitations on transportation the family has). it's difficult that it has to be one item (i can think of some great gift basket ideas) but here goes: if you have a size for the girls how about getting a nice fleese hooded pull over from old navy? (alot of kids will get coats that they may or may not wear-but these pull overs seem to be very popular with the kids, they wear them constantly). for sixty dollars you could get a beautiful one with a scarf and gloves as well. a boy aged 12? oh man, their interests vary so much....the only thing that comes to mind is a remote control car (like the monster truck style)-the boys in my neighborhood are out zipping these around the neighborhood all the time. you can get good buys on them at walmart or toys r us. just make sure to see what type of batteries it takes and include them as well.

good wishes to your students on such a great and giving project.
