A great Disfriend suggested that if enough of us were going, we could get a super group rate for 2005's cruise that Andy (verandahman) and I have named our "50th Birthday Celebration" - this does coincide with the 50th Anniversary of Disneyland.

Although no one has officially given word yet, the 2005 dates for mid May, June, July and August are not posted, so we are guessing that maybe one of the Disney ships will be repositioned on the West Coast via Panama Canal for that time period.

It's worth the wait for us to see what is going on - but to get an idea of who would like to be on the list that I am going to have Andy keep (since he does such great work with graphics, and he is OLDER than I am, therefore WISER!)

I know I'd like to be on one of the repositioning cruises (I am guessing 10 day) - let me be the second to put my name down with my family - Tom, my husband; Lilly, my mom and Michael, the best kid in the world!

You can count me in (another 55 baby boomer)
If it is not the Panama repositioning cruise, just me. If by chance, that is what we are looking at, possibly the whole family. But add me, Robin to the list.

Thanks!

You know I already put you down, girlfriend! By the way, did they do anything special for V-Day on the ship?

Roses for ladies? Iced shrimp in your room? Free Bahama Mama's? Free massages? Free facials? *the cold has affected my brain obviously...

Rae,

I guess that would make my family first on the list??? Sounds like a fun and adventuring cruise to me. Maybe Castaway Cay could be a first stop on the way out from Port Canaveral??? One could only hope!!!

Celebrating 50 Years 1955-2005

Don.......2/2
Leslie....2/28
Andy.....4/20
Bill.........4/26
Rae.......5/19
Robin....10/19
Mike......11/24(The Turkey)
Indy......12/27

We are booked for a Western in March of 2005 but if I'm not retired by then might be able to afford to switch over to a 10 dayer. IF they did the Panama Canal that would be phenomenal. Trouble is I would want it when the kids are out of school. Would the repositioning be during the summer break? I tend to think it may be June or September?

Well it is an option and depending on dates and of course the price (Hopefully the Canadian peso will rise a bit more against the American dollar) this could be a nice trip.

The three of us would be possibles when we see what is going to happen.

Cheers,
Grumbo

You can count me in as well if we can ever find out when it will be. Another born in 55 boomer - Mike

Yahoo that's two more!!!

Welcome to the list, Grumbo - and I am guessing that the first cruise would be mid May to go West, then the last of August it would head back to Port Canaveral. Due to school schedules, it would be a good guess that most would prefer the August cruise date if the repositioning cruise is offered (which knowing Disney it will be!)

Yes, pie-eyed optomist here!

Welcome to you also Mike! Another oldie but goodie, ehhh?
Gotta love us Baby Boomers - we now know enough to look back and shake our heads and say, "How did we ever make it?""

O.K. Mike, can I have your date of birth ??/??/1955, for the running birthday list.

I'm just being thankful that I will make it to 50 - at least I hope. I am happy to look back and feel the times we grew up in were some important times in history and that we still have some of our brains left to function with.

Time goes by faster the older you get. - Mike

August would be perfect. I'd book it right away and then see if I can afford it after, while the availibility is still there :)

This summer we're doing the fly to Vegas, drive to the Grand Canyon, L.A., up the coast to San Francisco, Yosemite, Mammoth Lakes, Death Valley and back to Vegas with Elton John tickets for the last night this summer. First trip to California and really looking forward to it.

Cheers,
Grumbo

Grumbo

Enjoy your stay in CA and I noticed you have Elton John tickets in Las Vegas. He just signed a 3 yr contract to perform there when Celine Dion (sic) is not appearing. Should be a good concert. Enjoy - Mike

Verandah Man - ( I really like your post name BTW)

11/24/55 - Born on Thanksgiving day (Don't get any ideas). Soould be me, my DW, and my DS(7 then) as long as the repositioning cruise will not take DS out of school (At least not more than 1 or 2 days)- Mike

Mike, now you are the baby of the group, you people just keep getting younger and younger!!!LOL!!!

Mike, I am unfamiliar with CA's school schedule, being from New England where we start after Labor Day and end in late June now a homeschooling Mom - can you tell us approximately when
CA starts and ends?

By the way, Indiana starts in early August and ends in early May. IF my 8 year old was in public school this year, he would be catching his bus at 7:10AM (DARK - no daylight savings here) and coming home 3PM - school starts 7:45AM and ends 2:15PM. Go figure!!!

Rae

Yep we have seen Celine a couple of times up here and would have gone again but never seen Elton John (D.W. has but that was before I was around :) ) and our 11 year old daughter doesn't know about this yet so it should be quite the surprise.

Just gotta work lots of overtime and save.

Cheers,
Grumbo

Okay, you forced me to tell my Elton John story. Many, many years (over 2 decades ago to be closer), I was visiting with friends in Lake Como, Italy who were hosting a party and their friend Elton was coming. I didn't pay much attention to the chatter since it was going to be an "alternative lifestyle" party and I was not part of that scene.

Anyway, they had to go over to Switzerland to get their Bentley, and I stayed at the chalet with their dobermans and houseboy. The phone rang, I answered it thinking it was Scott and this perky British voice started chatting with me. It was Elton and he was sending regrets since he would not be able to make the party.

When the houseboy came in, I passed the message on - only then did the houseboy show me a picture of Elton. Yeah, Elton John. Oh brother!

You DON'T want to hear what I said to Scott when they returned because he "assumed" that I knew who Elton was when they were talking.....agggghhhhh!!!!!

And here I was a big fan! Still am! Lucky you! Maybe we need to go to Vegas as an excursion!

Rae 519 -

My son started kindergaten this year on 8/28/03 and his last day will be 6/10/04. I'm hoping next school year (2004/2005) that he will not start school until September but the schedule has not come out yet. - Mike

Hey you youngsters are gonna have to keep up with us old folx :)
Only a couple of years older than you.
I would like the ability to fly out to California for the Disney cruise and then fly from Florida home. THAT would be a great trip though.
Anyone know where the "likely" port they'd use on the West coast would be? I'm not really familiar with that area. Plus which ports would they more than likely visit (aside from the repositioning trip).

BTW at least you got to talk with Elton John. THAT is a great story.

Cheers,
Grumbo

Add me to the list! I want the reposition cruise to be around Memorial Day, 2005. I'm in Georgia and our last day of school will be May 25 or so. I'll take my DS out for a 10 day repositioning cruise -- especially through the Canal.

It would be:

Sandra 2/14/1962 (Valentines Day! -- but, not 50 yet!)
Pete 9/23/1961
Spencer 10/1/1995
Becca 2/21/1999

This will be our third Disney Cruise and I am ready to book!

Sandra

BTW... Wonder if we can get a group discount!?

Our school year usually runs early August through end of May. They want have the first half of the year finished before the Christmas break.

I'd have to say Long Beach or San Pedro as they are both close to Disneyland would be their main port. I believe they would do the usual port or calls as the other cruise ships - Most likely Cabo, Aculpoco, Manzinillo, Ixtapa, and possibly San Diego. - Mike
