Well, the first night at Pop Century was less than pleasant. First of all, the parking is so hard to figure out. There was no parking in the 50's section near our building, and we didn't want to park in the 60's section. So we drove down a little while to the next 50's parking section which is still under construction. We ended up having to walk halfway through the entire resort to get to our rooms, not so bad though cause we got to see alot of the cool stuff inside the resort. Our building was right next to the Giant Lady from Lady and the Tramp. When we got in the room I discovered the second problem. The room was really hot, however the thermostat said it was 68 degrees. I tried to turn it down some, but it seems as if the thermostat defaults at 68. So I called Guest Services to complain about the heat and she told me to make sure that the fan on the AC was on high. It was but it didn't help. My family who is used to the "real" 68 degrees that I keep it in my home at night, spent the entire night sweating to death.

In the morning I got my wake up call and was thrilled to hear Minnie and Mickey on the phone. I swear one day I am going to find a way for my alarm clock to have that message on it, it just makes every day great!! I get my husband and kids, up and dressed. I am rushing everyone as usual, see in my family I am the "commando" like delswife's daughter. All of a sudden David looks at me and asks, " Did you go get everyone else up?". "O" no not again!! I ran to everyone's rooms thinking we were going to be so late. We had priority seatings at Crystal Palace for this morning and now we were going to miss it because I forgot again to get my mother up. Luckily, they were already up and dressed.

Once we all got ready, we hopped into Mike's Tahoe (it was the only car that would fit all 7 of us) and tried to go to Magic Kingdom. Key word being "tried". This is where we go back to the awful road signs at Disney World. We ended up going to MGM somehow, and I felt so bad for Mike. :confused:He had three women in the car telling him which direction he should have been going. In order to get turned around at the MGM gates Mike ended up making 2 illegal turns, since he is a retired police officer we gave him quite a hard time about that one. Finally we arrive, we get parked, and take off at a sprint toward Crystal Palace. That's when it happens. All of a sudden we are surrounded by a crowd of people, not guests, but some other herd of young people. I am assuming it was probably people in the college program. We could barely get around them, but once we did, it was a dead sprint for Crystal Palace again.

When we got there we were only like 10 minutes late and luckily we were seated immediately. As soon as we got to the table, we saw Tigger who was at the table before us leave for his break. Nikki, my mother in law, has a bit of a temper and started to get upset about Tigger not coming by to say Hi to her grandson. I had to remind her that Tigger probably needed to go Potty, but that he would be back in a minute. That calmed her down for a moment. When Tigger did return he skipped right past our table, which set her off again, so I decided to mention it to the server and that again diffused the situation for a little while. Pooh, and Eeyore came by and Michael was really excited to see them, but Tigger still hadn't come back by, so I mentioned it again to Pooh's handler. He asked us to come over and get our pictures with Piglet and to wait and he would get Tigger for us. He brought Tigger over just for us, a little private meet and greet. It was so cool, and I have some of the best pictures. Of course, I lost all of the film of Eeyore, Pooh, and Piglet, hopefully it will show up sooner or later. We had a wonderful breakfast and were full most of the day.

The park had just opened before we were done eating. So we headed straight for Buzz Lightyear, for some reason Michael layed down in the spaceship and wouldn't get up. I thought that was kind of odd, but maybe Buzz scared him!! After that Mike, my Mom, David, Corey, and Me headed straight into Space Mountain. Nikki decided to take the baby on the TTA while we rode. For some reason I don't think Space Mountain is as good as it used to be, it just doesn't seem as dark or as fast. When we got done we went looking for Nikki and my little boy. They were no where to be found. We waited at our meeting spot for 20 minutes before she finally showed up. God I love that woman, but I was starting to go crazy wondering where she had taken off with my kid. Anyway, all was well, and we were heading to FantasyLand.

We stood in line for Pooh, and the ride broke down. So we headed for Snow White, which I got some awesome pictures of. Then off to Mickey's Philharmagic, another one that David agreed to do. I can't imagine what it would be like never to see in 3-D, but at least he enjoyed holding Michael in the show and seeing his reactions. I LOVED this show. My favorite part though is the apple pie. I don't know how Disney creates such magic, but isn't it wonderful?! After that we went to the Haunted Mansion, we walked right on. Michael seemed to be fine through the pre show and walking through but as soon as we got in the doom buggy he tried to lay down again. Instead of letting him I forced him to sit up in the seat. He rode the entire thing with his hands covering his face. He had his little fingers split over his eyes just enough that he could see what was going on. It was priceless.

Then it was off to Splash and Thunder Mountain. Since there were only 5 of us riding I got to sit in the front all by myself and take some great pictures. However, I paid the price, I got soaking wet!! On Thunder Mountain Nikkie came with us while my mom waited with Michael. She is so fun to watch on Roller Coasters. Nikki is one fo those women that never wears jeans and tee shirts. She is always dressed nicely, with her hair and make-up done. She wouldn't go on Splash because it might get her hair wet. "Love ya, mean it!!" My mom decided she wanted to ride Thunder too, so we told everyone else to meet us on Tom Sawyer's Island. Well, I had never been to Tom Sawyer's Island before, I didn't realize how BIG this place was. I got over there and searched and searched and we couldn't find them. We decided to cross back over to Frontier Land and that is when we saw them. They were standing on the dock on the other side of the water. So I started screaming, "DAVID!!". He didn't hear me, so everyone else on Tom Sawyer's raft started screaming with me. One of the guys on the raft with us said, " I am glad my name isn't David." and someone else said, " I bet he's wishing his name wasn't David right now too!!"

About this time Michael finally started to doze off, so we figured we'd hit Pirates of the Caribbean and the Jungle Cruise and give him a chance to sleep. Then we headed for the Railroad so that we could head towards Toon Town.

I'll be back later with Part 2.
