Soooo with the new iPhone cap going into affect this year (a 2gig max on data) I am looking to switch to the Android because I hate being capped on how much data I can download  Does the Android market have any Disneyland wait time apps??

Ride Hopper is in the Android market - looks decent, not sure how accurate it is when they have no recent user inputs of wait times as I haven't been in the park to compare since I've had it but it's the only one I know of.

Would love to hear if other's know of one but a Market search for Disneyland doesn't reveal any others.

Boo :( I really hope they come out with one...otherwise I'm staying with the iPhone. Is it sad that is what I judge a phone on? lol If it doesn't have Disneyland apps I refuse to buy it

I must have missed the cap increase announcement. Not very much of anything with the droid as of yet.

AT&T says that 98% of iPhone owners use less than 2gb. There's a David Pogue column that talks about that, and which has links to AT&T pages that will allow you to check your usage. Maybe the limit isn't a big deal.

Thanks, seems very logical to me to save money. I use my phone a ton and do not think I would ever use 2 gigs.

I use 2gigs but that's because I broadcast from my phone, which is what the live at disneyland link is on my siggy. I take my viewers with me when I go places so that'll make me go over the 2gigs easily :( So looks like no more casting

I just bought an iPhone this week and today when I was switching around all of the phone numbers the guy told me that only new users will have to back down on their data usage. People who currently have the $30 per month unlimited plan can keep it.

That's the plan for now...not sure what it will be in the future. I bought my phone one day before they discontinued the unlimited option.:yay:

At&t and later Verizon are putting caps on data. The only true app is the one from m.touringplans.com. Any smart phone can access it. Runs about $12 a year.

Thank god I don't have to go to a cap lol, I need my unlimited and don't want an Android lol I love my iPhone

m.touringplans.com is OUTSTANDING! And they do have an Android App although I find the mobile website works better than the app.
But its WDW not Disneyland.

Sounds like you're staying with the iPhone, but just as an FYI, I am a Droid user (love it!!!) and it has Ride Hopper. It's mostly accurate and we use it everytime we're at the parks. :thumbsup2

That's the only free app I know of for the Androids, but I believe there are others that you can pay for.

I just replaced my aging Windows Mobile phone with an EVO, and although I have no idea when my next Disney trip will be at this point, I'd be interested in finding out what's out there for Android. I messed a bit with MouseWait on my iPad on my last trip, but that's not going to work for actually being in the parks...

Are you aware that if you are a current iphone owner / AT&T subscriber the cap does not apply to you as long as you do not change your plan? This really should not affect you (if you are a current sub).

I recently downloaded the Ride Hopper Lite application. Not really sure how accurate the wait times are, but you can you it at a number of theme parks around the country.

I love my Droid too!!! Thanks for the heads up on the Ride Hopper app. I am going to download that today and try it out when we head to the park in a couple of weeks.

In my opinion, Verizon totally beats AT&T for cell reception inside the parks. My iphone friends couldn't get cell reception in all areas of the park and were looking at me (green with envy) as I was happily using my droid right next to them.

Not that I have seen. I have a Droid and would love a Disney App like the iphone has.. If you are a Verizon customer, there is Mobile Magic. Taken from the Disney Parks Blog:
http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2009/10/mobile-magic-first-disney-parks-mobile-app-details-screen-shots-unveiled/

My DBF and I both have Droids and love them! However, for some crazy reason Mobile Magic is not compatible with Droids.
Ride Hopper has a free and pay version and includes many different amusement parks across the US. This app is very dependent on enough users entering correct info into the app to get a more accurate picture of wait times but does not include anything about FP's, etc.
There's also a pay app called Disneyland California Maps which basically sounds like you can search the park maps for places/attractions, customize the map on how you want to tour, and has menus. Similar app also available for WDW.
Then WDW Lines also has a free and pay version thru Touring Plans but as the PP said, only for WDW.
I haven't been to any of the parks to use any of the apps yet. As of now would probably use Ride Hopper for DL and pay version of WDW Lines for WDW. But really would prefer Mobile Magic to be compatible with Droid before the next trip! :wizard:

Are these droids anything like steroids? They are so not good for anyone... really... for shame.... ;) he he!

I profusely apologize for any sense of humor that I might have that is real or imagined! ;)

That's weird that a lot of people say AT&T has horrible service in the park, I never had any problems with reception. Actually, this last October we got stuck on Splash Mountain for like 15 minutes when it broke down because some stupid teens kept standing up and I was able to have a phone conversation on my iPhone on the ride while waiting lol
