And this is why Diaper Genie is a big problem.,,

Only ever experienced the old FP system and FP+ once my last trip to WDW (2014). FP+ was the ideal system imo, you got 3 FP to start for each day (already picked out before your stay too!), club level guests could get 6 (perks of spending extra to get a little extra), and my parents could use those kiosks to get more FP+ (I have no idea if those are still in use with Genie+, they made it smoother for my less tech-savvy family). I wouldn't have been as upset with them charging for FP+ if they had kept the previous system in place. From an outsider perspective, it looks like a total nightmare and a strain on the trip. Sorry its giving y'all issues, I hope I don't have these similar problems in Jan!
Long term I really have to believe they show themselves in the foot with resort bookings once the current travel boom is over. We never would have dreamed of staying offsite prior to COVId because you needed that 60 day priority. Now? We stay offsite all the time. Sheraton Vistana and Wyndham Bonnet Creek are both much nicer than the deluxe Disney hotels in my opinion at about one fourth the price.

Eventually this post COVID travel craze will die out for WDW and they'll be reintroducing perks back to the parks. Hopefully one of those things will be FP+ (in some capacity) being brought back in some capacity. Chapek, no matter how much y'all hate him, is right. Until demand for their parks dies, there is no reason for them to stop the price increases and perks removal. They are making more money off less people, however even that crowd is starting to be more and more disgruntled with the changes.

Wait for the market to crash, then I think Disney will start dropping the prices like flies.

Each day you visit s wildly different from the next. So everyone’s experience is quite different.

Genie + works best when you are in MK all day. Love it those days because there are a ton of choices and I’m fine whatever and wherever I get. But Epcot is a bigger park with far fewer rides.

I would agree, while I don't think Genie + works especially well, it clearly works best in MK.

Def! Using it at Magic Kingdom mid September is going to be very different from Hollywood Studios the week of xmas break.

The unknown is what we find so frustrating… especially when you are spending the amount of money the average trip costs.

Disney is not making anyone buy Genie + or LL, if you don't want to use it then don't. The attraction line is still open for anyone who wants to stand in it. I was pleasantly surprised how well it worked
for us during the summer but that's just me.
True and we've never bothered with Genie+, not worth it to us at all and we are a family of 5 and were there during Spring Break, we rode all we wanted and even some of the lamer rides, that just had pretty much no wait and we just go for fun! HAHA!

For us Disney was never a relaxing vacation, that is why we cruise afterwards, tack on a beach trip or just plan a different vacation when we are just hanging out and relaxing, Disney is a vacation where you have to plan it out and you are constantly on the go, even if it's a non park day! LOL!

For us it's a must because no one in my family will wait longer than 30 minutes in line for any ride not just in Disney that rule goes for any theme park. My kids( I group my wife in that statement) would rather go get something to eat or see a show then wait in line for a ride with a long wait time.

I read in a DVC thread that Disney had emailed a few members asking if they would be interested in trying a full concierge service for their upcoming trip which would include assistance in booking reservations. I’m guessing this is the direction Disney is heading. The poor folks will have to fight it out with Genie and the rich can pay for a fully prebooked stay including ADRs and ride times. That’s why they’ve done little to fix Genie+ since it debuted. I know someone is gonna chime in here saying G+ is their favorite thing ever- that’s great for you.

Another reason to go to Disneyland so you don't have to deal with this nonsense.
I'm kind of confused by this statement as Disneyland also has Genie+ and it's more expensive than WDW at $20 per person per day. And according to many reports on this site and other social media sites, has similar complaints against it (except that in DL you can only buy and book Genie+ attractions once you are physically in the park). I know you don't have to buy it but DL is not exempt from Genie+ issues from what I've seen.

A lot all depends on what constitutes a long line. We never wait more than 45 minutes (for some reason once the line says 55, we won't get in it! LOL).

We buy snacks before getting in line if we want something and same with drinks and we always have ADRs for dinner and our breakfast is done at the resort. Lunch we play by ear depending on what time our dinner reservations are for. There are a few things that never have lines that we use for cooling down, naps (for the parents and AC for the teens) and just getting off our feet. (We have a list for every park) but other than that we don't do the shows or parades and only watch the fireworks as we take advantage of slow lines.

We also go for 2 week minimum trips, so we know that eventually we will get on what we want, so never feel the need to stand in line too long or pay for extras and that's pretty much why I said it wasn't worth it for us. We figure the sweet spot of a wait is 30 minutes, because it allows us to see the line itself, which is a great part of the theme most often. I think that mainly it all comes down to individual people and what they deem worthy in their vacation.

Now if only they had a Genie+ for Trader Sams..... 🤣

I’d be a little surprised if very many people on a vacation at Disney World could be classified as “poor.”

I mean it is already the case with Disney if you have the means you can just book a private tour and cut most of the lines.

People can already do this if they want to by booking a private tour. That's been around a long time.

IIRC Disney also tried giving Deluxe resort guests more FP+ reservations at one point but not sure how long that lasted.

I know club level had access to 6 at a time back in the day, not deluxe. Think that went away with Genie+.

Time will only tell if this system is put into play. Seems like Disney is definitely playing favorites with guests that are either on their once in a lifetime trip or are the ultra wealthy (ex: that new ABD trip that's over 100K).

I've got nothing against them testing this out, cause it might be something worth the splurge on (despite the fact that we could all easily do this pre-COVID)

I've never done a private tour, they book ADR's and magical experiences (BBB, etc) for you as well?

It was meant tongue in cheek, since there is a not insignificant segment of the Disboards that would gladly (and self admittedly) pay extra to make sure less of us were around them in the parks, as one person euphemistically put it, "the rougher crowds".

Could just do it the old-timey way and (gasp) stand in line.
I think the issue here is the fact that the lines for Disney's best attractions are horrendously long and some people want to maximize their stays with how expensive they are now
