About 30 NAKED protestors were just taken away by police near the Garden. My co-worker saw it. Next week will be interesting to say the least. We are closed Wed. and Thurs.

Why aren't all protests like that? I might actually pay attention if they were. :)

WHAT??? hahaha! And I thought we were doing so well when I got a seat on the subway this morning. Apparently it was just everyone getting out of town before the chaos struck!

Apparently naked protestors aren't interested in theater discounts. ;)

My guess is they were protesting this
The city's tourist bureau has pulled an off-Broadway show called "Naked Boys Singing" from a list of discounted offerings to visiting Republican delegates, after the Republican National Committee complained it wasn't suitable.

Well, any nakey boys who want to sing to me, they are completely welcome.

At least they were not throwing marbles at horses feet to make mounted police fall (and get hurt, not to mention breaking the horses legs in the process)

30 naked guys seems inappropriate ANYWHERE! IMO
I also predict Bush will receive the nomination.

Why the heck do they have to have it here! I'm Republican and still don't want it here. Another thing NYs have to deal with during our 60-90 morning/evening commute along with daily terriorist threats on banking institutions in our immediate area.

Sorry, just had to vent since I'm gearing up for my +90 minute bus ride home.

Well I guess they aren't suit -able. :p

I'll save you the trouble ...*Groan*.

ACT UP (the group pulling this "stunt" protest) is an AIDS activist group.

While I agree with their main focus (drawing attention to the fight against AIDS), I hate that they choose this form to lodge their protest. Just makes anyone joining the legit protests that are coming look like part of the same looney group.

Actually, there was a second protest today in NYC...A huge banner was unfurled on the side of the Plaza hotel:

Isn't this unusual for ACT UP? I remember earlier protests where they were very careful to put up a clear, dignified, organized front so that people would have to take them seriously and couldn't claim that they were breaking any laws. Perhaps different times call for different measures...but I agree that it's unlikely that we will see any of the legit protestors in NY if other groups are using these types of theatrics.

I think it was simply a matter of numbers. When a protest being held Sunday is expected to draw as many as a quarter of a million people, a group of 30 is gonna have to do something a little different if they want to get any attention at all.

I hate it, but I'm sure that's their reasoning. But if the type of people that showed up in Seattle a couple years back show up in NYC next week, this protest will look like a pleasant memory in comparison.

you really believe that that's going to happen, don't you? any lunatic wtih a computer and a credit card can create a website, and the lunatic fringe get recognized...but then, there'll be a full moon sunday night.

ACT UP protesting naked ... banners pointing north to Central Park for truth and south to MSG for Bush ... the MOB on the Brooklyn Bridge ...

let's all gather in Central Park and sing Peter Paul and Mary songs...
