we reached Ciritcal Mass last night...


the bicycles of Critical Mass, that is.

I'm more concerned about another Chicago '68 or Kent State than a few whackos threating to throw marbles under a police horse's hooves...

but I think it will all stay relatively peaceful...

Saw that on the news this morning...we've seen Critical Mass demonstrations here in Austin before. As a group, I think they have interesting things to say about who gets access to public spaces and who doesn't.

I really hope it's relatively peaceful...especially for those of you living in the city (hope you'll be able to steer clear of Midtown). But I really do worry about the sheer build up of expectation of violence among the authorities- things could get out of control really quick. I think I posted on another thread about my friend (a NY cop) who was worried about a Kent State scenario- all of them will be putting in major overtime hours and will be exhausted.

just another day in NYC -- our police force is 35,000 strong, they know how do deal with this security situation.

and if you ask them, they'll admit that half of the security measures they've put into place a re just for show -- as I suspected.
