And So It Begins!

DH and I are a twosome as well, bought DVC in 1997, bought a second contract in 2002, and have never regretted our decision.

Make sure you realize that the $10 back offer for SSR is ending October 31st. If you want to buy there, you'll have to have your mind pretty well made up when you're there for your trip in order to take advantage of that.

I agree with the others who said leave more than an hour for the tour etc. We were there probably 3 hours, but my DH does ask a lot of questions!!!!!!But, when we bought, there was only OKW and BWV to tour...now you have more!!!!!

I will say that when we were deciding to buy, my DH(who is a realtor), looked at this form every possible angle...financial, investment, risk etc...and really determined that there is no way that you can get hurt.

I agree with the "call ahead" comments. If you do a "walk-up" at a kiosk to schedule a visit you may find that the times left open (if any) may not jive with your schedule that day.

Since others have done it on this thread... I'll put a plug in for our agent: Randy Kruger. Very nice, patient, and ZERO pressure.

Are promotions (like the 10.00 off for SS) few and far between? We are seriously considering DVC and if we can save 2500.00 by buying before October 31st we may do it sooner than we had originally planned. We don't vacation at peak times so I don't think it really matters where we buy. And, from what I've read (please correct me if I'm wrong), between closing costs, maint fees, etc., you don't really save much by buying resale - correct?

Other than the 11 month window...is there any other reason to buy a certain resort?

Thanks,
Pam

After you tour SSR, know that the different villa floor plans will be the same for BWV, BCV and VWL..however, the theme of each resort is different and is reflected in the decorating style. OKW has different room layouts, and if you stop by the DVC desk at OKW they may be able to let you tour one or two of the units if they are empty, or just cleaned before next guests etc. ALL DVC resorts are wonderful..they're just different. The fun of DVC is getting to try them all!!

We joined in 1997, have added on twice and always wish we could add on more! If we didn't have to fly to WDW, and IF we had MORE vacation time, I believe we would be adding on again..it's very addicting, and after staying in DVC 1 bedroom and larger units it VERY difficult to go back to a standard hotel room when vacationing outside of WDW!

When we purchased BW and OKW were both for sale. We started our tour at BW, then we were transported to OKW..we loved it so much we purchased that very afternoon. Total process took about 3 hours. At that time, you got to make yourself an ice cream sundae at OKW.

We tend to travel off season, when point requirements are at their lowest..and we believe we have received excellent value for our investment.

Good luck with your decision. Welcome to the board..and we look forward to welcoming you "home" soon! Enjoy your FTP vacation!!
