And just when I thought I had seen everything...

My DD had a tennis lesson yesterday, so I decided to go to the grocery store near the tennis courts to pick up a few things. I headed for the produce section and heard someone talking in a raised voice. I looked up and saw a large flatscreen television broadcasting produce commercials and entertainment news! Of course most of the shoppers were watching television instead of shopping. Next, I headed to the meat area...yes, another television with recipes and preparation advice.

I have now seen screens at the gas pump, in restroom stalls, at the grocery checkout and now in the shopping area of the store.

What is next?

When I go into <gasp> Walmart, I am completely annoyed by their ceiling mounted TV's BLARING commercials and crap.

I can't think of any stores where we have that here, unless I just haven't noticed.

Ohhh, you'll know when you come across them. They are loud and obnoxious...and that is an understatement. :headache: All it does is make me want to get OUT as fast as I can.

Well, I was going to make a joke and say bathroom stalls, but then I read your post more carefully...

What kind of programming is on the TV screen in an individual stall - toilet paper, feminine hygiene products, hemorrhoid creams? How appetising...

My grocery store has those but they don't broadcast news. Just an occasional recipe and actually I don't know what else because I don't really pay attention. I know it's all related to their store though. :rotfl:

Now here's a bad one. I was waiting in my dentist's office the other day while my son was getting his cleaning. They have a tv in there that usually has news on. There's a big sign that says "do not change the channel". I wasn't really paying attention but could hear there was music playing. Then I hear a familiar hip-hop song called "Slap That". I don't know who sings it but it features Eminem. So I think you can imagine what "slap that" means. :rotfl: The tv must've been on MTV because this video was playing and it wasn't exactly dentist office appropriate. Now this didn't offend me but I just thought it was :rotfl2: because I know someone must've changed the channel and obviously the office staff didn't know. I probably should've said something but I was just getting a good giggle out of it. I figured some uptight mom would let them know. :rolleyes1

And I thought it was weird when I walked into a local Kroger and different sections started making noises at me.

Like in the dairy section, every time you reach in to get milk or whatever, it moos at you.
When you're in the meat section, where all the tubes o' ground beef, bags o' chicken pieces and cold cuts are, it goes "MMMM! MEAT!" or sometimes oinks.
When you go to get eggs, it makes chicken noises.

The first time that happened, it really scared the beejeezus outta me.:rotfl2:

TOV

:lmao:

I soooo want a grocery store like that here. if we have one I don't know about it but it would certainly make grocery shoping more entertaining

Grocery stores are crowded enough without something that encourages people to stand around in front of the merchandise! I am there to get my food and get on with my day, not be entertained.

Wouldn't it be nice to have someplace to go for a little peace and quiet?

While I haven't seen (or at least noticed) big TV's in grocery stores here, they do have little ones in the checkout lanes showing recipes, cooking tips, etc.

I am even more annoyed when they broadcast things in Spanish! I don't have anything against our Hispanic community and this IS Southern California so there are lots of Hispanics...but I feel like I am in Mexico when I shop at Walmart because some of the TV's have spanish stuff that I can't understand! :confused3
