And it's time to bake!!

Any wonderful new updates? I tried the pumpkin muffins. I used spice cake mix, 1 cup of water, and 1 can of pumpkin. I also added walnuts and cinnamon. They were super moist and stayed that way for several days.

I am going to make the shredded wheat bread today. Then, I'm going to the store to buy the things for apple praline bread and molasses cookies.

Here's a recipe shared on another site that I'm on. I haven't tried it, but it sounds simple and yummy.

Apple Dumplings

2 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and cut into 8 wedges
2 cans refrigerated crescent rolls, separated
1 c. sugar
1/3 c. butter or margarine, softened
6 oz Mountain Dew
cinnamon

Sprinkle apple wedge with cinnamon. Wrap each crescent roll wedge around an apple wedge. Put in greased 9 x 13 pan. Mix sugar and butter with a fork and sprinkle on top of apples. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Pour Mountain Dew around edges of rolls...not over the top. Bake 350 degrees for 35 minutes until light brown. Serve with Cool Whip.

I'm going to make the pumpkin muffins today, they sound yummy! So do the apple dumplings....

I forgot to mention on the hw bread that my Mom would add a little orange zest to hers. My sister loves it that way, but I prefer it w/o. Just fyi.

I made the Shredded Wheat bread today. The flavor is wonderful. The consistency is a little chewier than it should be. Any ideas as to what I did wrong? The dough was very sticky as I kneaded it, so I kneaded in quite a bit more flour. Even after the first rise time, it still seemed to be very sticky.

Despite the heavy, chewy consistency, I will definitely make this again!

Wow, I'm not sure. That hasn't happened to me before. The fact that it was so sticky makes me wonder about the yeast step or the sw bisquit substitution. I know the from boiling to lukewarm liquid is another important step. Did you use all purpose flour? Do you think the dough rose as much as it should have? I'm really sorry about that!
 
I made the pumpkin muffins ( w/ the spice cake mix, pumpkin and water) and they are really good and so simple. I added walnut, raisins and a pinch of cinnamon. They won't be around for long....

I am not a baker but every once in a while I will bake bread or rolls. I have found that you really need to be careful with the amount of flour that you add when kneading the dough. I wonder if you kneaded the dough enough, I think that may make a difference.
