Hard to believe I've been visiting this board for a few years now and I still haven't finally honed my budget skills. Don't even get me started on how befuddled I got everytime I went into CVS, nothing like you masters on here!
Well I've been waiting for the newest Nano 16gb to go on sale for DH xmas gift. I knew that the cheapest I'd found it was the non-sale price of $169 at Costco. But I kept hoping Black Friday would bring better than that. Of course, nothing better really appeared for the 16gb nano. But Amazon DID have it for $165, with free shipping and returns until 1/31. But still...a mere $4 savings? It's been that price for 2 days now. I hedged and hedged, thinking that I'd rather forego the $4 savings if it meant in the event of a problem I could return it to the brick and mortar Costco, even with their new diminished electronics return policy, rather than shipping it back to Amazon.
Stupid, stupid, stupid.
Finally it clicked this morning. SALES TAX. If I bought this thing at Costco, I'd be paying another 8.25% sales tax. Same with Best Buy online, Target online, etc. But not on Amazon (*cough* for now). DOY! And how many years have I been shopping online? Doofus.
So, didn't save just $4, I saved $18
Hmmmm...just thought I'd pass that on. Never know who's sharing my brain fog
