Ignore morning EMH for the moment. I thought the FP machines opened when the ride opened. I have seen a few threads where the idea is expressed that the FP machines are opened "when the lines start to build" - thus sometime later in the morning.

So which is it?

I would be bummed to run over to grab a FP first thing in the morning and have the machines not be open yet. That would throw off the day's plan.

The FP machines are open right away, but the first pass you get isn't good for at leat 40 minutes. In other words, usually if you get a FP at 9:00, the return time will be around 9:40.

I've heard that often during the slower times of the year, the FP machines aren't used for certain attractions, basically because it's not needed. Never experienced this as we always go during summer.

Thanks. That's what I thought.

I know about the 40+ minute minimum delay on all FP return times. If anyone else has experienced something different please share.

The FP machines might not necessarily be open right away. For instance, I went to get a FP for the RnRC at park opening and the machines were still covered. The guy said it was because there was zero wait time. We went on it twice in a row. Not a good idea at 9am.
