...and a happy New Year! 12/30/2010

Haven't posted in awhile, been busy at work and with honey do list. We are collecting FE gifts which is always fun. We are going to do the 5K and the half marathon when we get off the ship, and we are volunteering to help with registration/expo on Thurs, Fri. and Sat.. After the cruise we are staying at the Wyndham Bonnet Creek resort on Disney property.

The weather here was nice last week, low 80s for the highs, upper 50s at night. But this week we are back to 90 for highs. The weather man promises back to the low 80s for the weekend.

We are spending the second week of Nov. at Animal Kingdom Lodge for my birthday. The cruise activity will get into full swing when we get home.

Hope everyone is staying health and well. Alex

Hey Alex, you got me thinking, it would be a good idea to do the 5K race on Friday and then head for home either that afternoon, or Saturday. This would be a good way to get ready for the half next year. I did not realize that they had a 5K, just thought that was for kids. I think I have to talk to my husband (the Ironman - triathlete) and son, and sign us up. This may mean that I need to change some plans - we were planning on staying at the in-laws Jan. 6th, we may need to book a room at WDW.

Today's weather report predicted that the winds that hit Texas were on the way to our area. We had some rain and winds, but nothing like what they indicated was coming our way.

My in-laws are on their way to Florida for the the winter - this means we are one step closer to the cruise.

Wondering if any of you repeat cruisers have done the talent show that they have at the end of the cruise? Thinking about it driving into work today. We missed it last cruise and families that went to it said it was so good and they were amazed by the talent they saw.

We tried to hit as much of the entertainment as possible, but found that we were running out of steam and free hours. DH and I completely missed all the adult entertainment because we were spending time with DD or crashing because we had been up and going since 6am.

Laura

You are the first 2 that I have ever heard of staying at Bonnet creek in all my years of going to WDW and the different boards I have visited. I looked at pictures and it seems nice. We always have stayed on Site with Disney owned property. I know one time we visited a hotel in DTD (Groverner) in 1997 and things seemed so Sad there, they just were not up to the same level as Disney resorts.

Might have to check it out sometime, especially if we can get some good rates. I didn't even know Hilton was there.

The Hilton is fantastic, I highly reccomend it. Bonnet Creek is nice too, but if you are expecting the "Disney magic" there you might be disappointed. I love it there because the units are large and have full kitchens in them. If you're staying a week the kitchen is super helpful.

That's the 5K I was talking about too, although I am also planning on doing the 5K at CC. We did the 5K at DW a couple of weeks ago and it was the most fun race I've ever done. I was a little bummed that it wasn't really timed until I realized that I must have spent at least 20 min. of the race waiting in line for character pictures. Here's a few picts.

Notice how dark it was when we started the race. And we did not start in the 7 Min and under/mile. We just thought it would be fun to pretend!

Sadly, I have no talent. :lmao: I know the feeling about never getting to the adult entertainment, I didn't even see the bar section of the ship the last time I was on the Wonder.

Each year the race has a different theme. Last year was the movie UP. This years it's Toy Story 3. I'm sure there will be alot of people dressed as Woodie, Buzz Lightyear and Jessie. It is just a fun race and a nice (rubber) medal. Alex

Just make sure Ironman knows it is a 5K fun run. Alex

All these notes and pictures about the 5K race is very exciting. I was going to skip my run tonight, but after I get off email, I will be on my way to get ready for Jan. 7. Just need to convince hubby. He is more focused on his race next year in Austria. When I run/walk a 5K, I think he runs about 10K - it drives me crazy when he runs circles around me saying, "oh, you are doing so good", and then takes off, and comes back 5 minutes later. Needless to say, I run more with the dog or a learn to run group than with my hubby.

Talent show - I would love to watch, but not much talent to show.

I just registered for the 5K at DW and wanted to let you guys know that it is 90% full already so if you were interested in doing the 5K you might want to register soon. Plus if you register by 11/1 you get a personalized bib.

I am planning to do the race, but need to confirm with my hubby. This changes things around a bit. We were planning stay at the in-laws on Jan. 6, but this means we should book on site. I was looking at the map, but could not figure out the race start. Does it make a difference the hotel you stay in. I am assuming there is good transportation.

Kathy - If we don't get our Room assignment prior to finalizing the FE list, we can update you all at the DIS meet.

I assume the DIS Meet is still at 3pm on Embarcment day in the Promenade lounge.

I can't remember everyone who is staying at CI&S before the cruise, but I think at least 3 or 4 of us will be there.

We will see you at KSC as well.

Laura

I have been thinking that since we know our room number, if anyone does any changing on the ship or does not get it to us a few days before, they can call my room and leave a message and I will figure out a way to get the info to each member of the FE.
As far as I know the 3pm in the Promenade lounge will work.
I am staying at La Quinta Oceanfront, but it is only a mile or so down the road and since we will have a car, I don't see why we can't join ya'll for a while.
Yes, KSC, I am so glad my senator came through!!

Kathy - We have our Plane Tickets, KSC tickets from our congresswomen, CI&S Reservations, Rental car Reservations and WDW Resort reservations for the last day, Transformation to WDW from DCL paid and made our reservations for ME back to MCO. Palos and excursion are booked, but could change.

What we have left to do... Prepay tips, La Nouba reservations and ... (hopefully nothing else. Anyone see anything we are missing?

I have now booked a couple of excursions, and I think that is all I am going to worry about right now. Have bought the material to do a new FE hanging and hope the vision in my mind comes true. I also have started working on the actual gifts also.

Has anyone complied a list of disers and room numbers? If so what post # is the list. Typically the 3PM meet is a good time to upgrade lists of room #s. Alex

Post #2 has the list. No room numbers yet.

As of yet we have not put room numbers on the list. If anyone else knows their room number they can give it to me now or whenever they get it.

Just registered my family for the race. Guess this means that I am going to run/walk the CC 5K instead of the yoga. Anyone doing the pasta dinner? We were planning the Kona Kafe that night. Next to book a hotel for at least Jan. 6, possibly the 7th. I have looked at the Marriott Village and the price is right, but I do like to stay at the Disney resorts. Decisions ....

We are staying at POFQ Jan 6. Letting DCL take us there from the port.

We aren't doing the pasta dinner not sure what we're doing. I'm trying to decide weather to stay on property or at Bonnett Creek.

So I was just reading the disboards about the excitement surrounding the "float out" of the Dream yesterday. I saw somebody had mentioned that the Dream should be in Port Canaveral for the first time on Jan 4. Do you think she will still be there when we return to PC on Jan 6 from our cruise? It would be awesome to get a peek at her!

Hi Nikki - I am hoping. I bet if we pass her at sea or even pass the Magic, they will announce and let us know.

I also think if someone misses the meet @ 3 they can call my room (6548) and I will get the notifications out also.:surfweb:

If anyone else wants to join the fun, please let me know, so I can add you to the list. :thumbsup2 Also for our FE deadline. . . how about November 28. That will give us exactly one month to finish and finalize our plans. It will also give any latecomers a chance to join in. :goodvibes

I keep checking for my room number, but nothing yet, but then again we are still 58 days away from the cruise.

Got DD8 her formal dress (costco) yesterday. Now just need to get something for DH. (he lost a lot of weight in the past year, so nothing he wore last year fits).
