Anbody have a Cavachon dog?

I love both dogs but they both have a ton of health problems. Maybe when they are bred together those go away???

Having a Bichon and a Havanese, I would never recommend a Bichon (although I love mine tremendously).

I realize this is a very old thread. I am not understanding why dogs are being discussed on a Disney blog. But being the owner of a year old cavachon, it was intriguing to me. My cavachon is just a delight although ornery because he just turned a-year-old. I hope I am able to post a picture here. Coincidently his name is Mickey Which officially makes him a Disney dog doesn't it?
Why is it being discussed on a 'Disney blog'? This is the Community Board. It is open to just about any subject matter.
I am sure there are healthy multi-breed dogs out there. But....they truly aren't being bred responsibly. They are being bred to make a buck. Yes, breeders have been breeding two different breeds for years. But....that was to achieve a particular characteristic to make a particular breed better. Sporting dogs gave benefited from this for years.
But when you see these new hybrid dogs? It's all about the cute factor, or the allure of allergenic. And a lot of those dogs have health issues. Every single hybrid dog I know had had issues. Ask any vet.

My sister is needing to find a new home for their Cavachon puppy and has asked me to consider taking him. Does anybody have one that would be willing to share some info?

My daughter is 15 so no worries about small children. However, we are gone all day at school/work so the dog would be left alone during the day. (I would gate the kitchen off so he wouldn't have to be in a kennel all day.)

The puppy will turn 1 year old next month and my sister has had him since he was 6 weeks old. She purchased him from a reputable breeder.

I have never had a pet since I was a kid so really need to know everything there is to know about having a dog, all of the costs involved, etc. Thanks for any info!
while you can't put a sticker price on the fraternity of a four-legged companion, you can—and should—delineate how much your pooch will cost you all through his or her lifetime, specialists say. You would prefer not to achieve a point where surprising costs drive you to surrender your adored pup, or where they swarm out all other monetary needs.

The yearly cost of owning a canine relies upon its size: $1,001 for a little pooch, $1,214 for a medium-sized puppy, and $1,448 for a huge pooch, barring one-time capital costs like spay and fixing expenses and a transporter sack.

Cavachon

I always wish on these zombie threads that the OP would pop in w/ some amazing or wild update:

"Yes, after careful consideration, we did, indeed, up adopting my sister's Cavachon after she got permission from her very reputable breeder. In fact, the very reputable breeder was thrilled w/ our family, & our picture is now on the breeder's website. We wanted to give him a new name that better reflected our family standard, so we renamed him "Chandler Horace Charleston III." We call him Channy, & he is our sweetheart. <3 <3 <3 Channy is still super-healthy too, & our vet is continually amazed at how healthy & robust he is! (Our vet has even asked us to do guest lectures for new pet parents on how to properly take care of a dog.) And, wow!! Little Channy has changed our lives!! We enrolled Channy in our local puppy daycare where he was the star of the center! He was so spoiled & pampered there! However, Channy was getting so much attention from the daycare workers that the other dogs were being neglected, so I ended up quitting my job so I could give Channy a proper at home dog life. My children researched all kinds of dog training, & I'm proud to say that Channy is now a show dog & has won top honors for all his amazing tricks at over 172 dog shows all over the country. My children eventually quit school & fully immersed themselves into the dog training world - they've even been contacted by Cesar Millan! Our family absolutely fell in love w/ the Cavachon breed, & we ended up adopting 50 more. We now travel the country as a traveling dog show - Channy & his Cheery Crew of Chivalrous Cavachon!"

If only OP had this advice 7 years ago.
