Analysis of current Promotion for Add-ons

Does the contract have to be 200 total....could you buy 2 50 pts and a 100 pt and still get the deal???? (Just wondering this b/c the smaller contracts are easier to sell...:goodvibes )

My use year is April....I am confused about the 06 points. Would I still get those???

Thanks!

I have a June use year but since I don't get the 06 points I think I have to pass this time. Dont' forget though if you are adding on 200 more points you do still have to pay future mtce fees on those points so make sure you budget for that if you don't plan on selling your points in 08.

There is also a promo for lesser points available I believe if you add on 160 points you get a bonus 160 points and if you add on 110 points you get a bonus 100 points. The best deal by far though is the 200 point with a 270 point bonus.

in theory this all sounds good, but a word of advice to newer owners would be to consider this very carefully before doing

renting is not difficult per say, however there are certain concerns that need to be researched and understood. additionally you will be dealing with developer points and banked points so transfers are out, and you need to be aware of rules regarding dp's and banked points

additionally its probably not going to work out exactly for points rented vs points banked+ dp's, so you will more than likely lose some of those points or need to add in some of your current points
either way the dollar value per point is bound to increase

additionally you better be aware of the future mf's for your 200 point add on, if you dont need 200 points its not as good as a deal

Are you sure about this? I don't understand why you wouldn't get '07 pts when they would still be good until 8/31/08. Maybe I'm just confused! :confused3

I think you are correct in your thought

I dont think the previous statement is correct. Oct 07 UY is current right now, you would not lose those points

Sell this in a few months for $82, you would still have all the '08 points available. You could actually make a $21.50 profit per point on a 200 point contract, netting $4300 in less than 6 months.

Not a bad financial move, I would say!!

;) not quite

you are forgeting closing costs, assuming a stripped contract will sell for 82, assuming no mf's for 2007 or 2008

assuming you paid cash for the initial purchase

for all that you probably aint making much of anything at all

maybe if the buyer pays for it all, but who is going to buy that contract at SSR when theres plenty other options out there

I have a June use year and we do need more points!;) We have 200 and I am always borrowing into the next year! If we were to add on 110 points, we get the 100 developer points. With those developer points I know there are restrictions. So if I used those points for a trip for my family, and then used my 110 points to rent out to recoup some costs would that make this a good deal for me? I'm trying to figure all this out. We will be there in 2 weeks and would love to do this add on if it is really a good deal for us. Oh, we aren't Disney Visa card holders either so no extra perks there. One more question. How much would the points be each if we were to add on at SSR? I know it's $10 off but I don't know the price per point!
TIA!!

For existing members it would be $94/pt incl. the $10 discount.

Actually, you are partially incorrect.

But I think that there was a mis-interpretation of my prior post. The only Oct UY that are available now are for 08. If you have a Oct. 08 UY, you will still get 07 points. You would have to pay for the remainder of the 07 UY MF (which shouldn't be too much as you only pay prorated for the year, and 07 is nearing completion) and also, of course 08 MF.

However, if you got an Oct. 07 UY, (which is not available since we are already into Oct) you would get the 06 points, without paying MF, and the 07 UY MF would be pro-rated.

Thus, you would lose the extra points that you would have gotten if you were able to buy the Oct 07 UY

I'm curious about this, too. I've heard people were able to do it in the past, but has it happened lately?

I have a 175 point contract at SSR now, and I'd like to break up my next add on to some smaller contracts.

not much partially incorrect about the fact that one would not lose oct 07 points

additionally it makes no difference if we are in oct or not as far the UY being available.

I added on in Aug 07 and still got feb 07 UY points
