Some see the expiration as a positive. While a timeshare can be passed on, some see it as a white elephant if they really don't want it.
I'm wondering what happens if a timeshare is listed in someone's will, but nobody accepts it. Is it forced? The biggest issue is that it is an obligation as a part owner. I know there's unclaimed real property all the time because those named in a will don't want to be responsible for upkeep and property taxes.
Well barring any unforseen deaths our plan is to ask the kids if they want it, if they do then fine, we will sign it over to them with their understanding that they have to pay the fees attached. If they don't we will offer it to nieces and nephews and other family/friends, if no one wants it then we will donate it to a charity or sell it ourselves. At that point it won't be a big deal to us what it sells for. lol But yes, it can be considered a white elephant if no one wants it and I have no idea if it is forced or not.
