So, we have stayed at Hojos and BWPPI. I liked HOJO for pool and room, BWPPI for breakfast and location. I currently am liking the price of Anaheim Plaza at $89 per night as opposed to outer options right at $130ish for July 2012.

Thoughts on this hotel? Anyone been there? How does the distance compare to some of the others like Hojo? :confused3

Thanks!

We stayed there once a few years ago and we didn't like it at all. But it was this hotel or not going at all. And if it comes to that I will book that hotel.

Walk was about the same as Hojo (not too bad at all) but we had a room way in the back of the property and it was dark, old, dingy and outdated. Just kinda felt yucky.

Like I said, that was a few years (3 or so) ago so maybe they've done some renovations since then. :confused3

I stayed there about a year and half ago.

Got a king room, facing the park. Also was in a delux room, just helping some people plan that were across the walkway. The basic difference was the delux room had upgraded furnishing and linens.

API met each of my requests and some were particular.
Room was clean enough, not impecable, but I didn't expect it to be like Ritz.
Location was a 7 minute walk for a close room, though the property is huge and it would add a couple minutes for a far room. Same as with Hojo.
Well taking care of grounds, nice landscaping, zero pieces of litter seen.
Tons of parking.
Nothing super nice, but a full list of ameneties.
Large pool, simple in design but huge pool area.
The room building are spread out, and two stories with ramps and stairs to the second floor. The ramps don't beat the missing elevators, but are nice for rolling suitcases up verses stairs only motels.

Property and room had signs of age and wear.

For the price and closeness to the gates, this property won't be beat.

I stayed there in August. The price then was $59/night, which I felt was about what it was worth. The room was good-sized and the place was funky but in a kind of cool way.

It was a very basic budget motel and that is what I would expect at that price. The location was good, so no complaints from me. However, I prefer something nicer (but my budget in August did not allow for that), so it would not be a place I'd normally stay.

At $89 I would hesitate.

We just returned from an 8 night trip where we stayed at the Anaheim Plaza (our dates were 12/18 - 12/26). We had a double queen room on the 1st floor. (When your traveling with a double stroller it's easier to stay on the 1st floor than to go up the ramps.) The room was clean, the beds aren't the softest but at the end of the day it's a place to sleep, and the rooms are huge!! I think the longest it's taken us to walk to or from the park was about 10 mins and that's just because we were just taking our time. Our average nightly rate over Christmas was $81 a night if I remember correctly where every where else I priced was over $120 a night. This was our 9th time staying here (3rd time this year alone) and we'll be staying here again when we go back in May 2012.

My family and I just came back from our trip to the DLR. We stayed at the Anaheim Plaza hotel and enjoyed our stay there. We've been staying there since '05 and the hotel has made improvements since then in terms of tidiness and room layout. Room service can be slow, but we're never in an urgent hurry. It's a very short distance from the parks compared with other hotels along Harbor Blvd. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms have great temperature control. We choose to eat back in our hotel rooms instead of in the parks as it's very convenient and comfortable; just request for a microwave during reservation and before you check-in. They're also flexible with the rooms you want to stay in, and the rooms are quite spacious. My family always chooses to stay in the 700 building as its right next to the quiet parking lot and the clean pool (which barely anyone uses; another plus).

I recommend the Anaheim Plaza Hotel.

I think you can find a much better deal for the Anaheim Plaza Hotel though. $89 a night does seem a bit pricey, and I'm pretty sure my family had a cheaper rate last weekend.

We stay there all the time closest dog friendly hotel. It's not the ritz but it is clean and well priced

Yesterday I booked at the AAA rate of $85 for 4 nights at $397.80 total. I am about $180 under anything else I can find in the area within walking distance.

We stayed there a couple years ago it was OK and for the right price I'd stay again - it'd have to be quite a bit cheaper than other places. Check out this fantastic tip on how to know what you're getting even though you're not supposed to from LMT I got Best Western Stovall's for $65 per night *over Thanksgiving weekend!

Wow!! Awesome tip, DisneyMomma81!! I've just been playing around with this and it works great! Thanks. :thumbsup2

What are your dates? Do you happen to be trying for the 18-20 or so of Jan? There is a NAMM convention that has upped the rates at many of the area hotels. If it's a different date, try a google search and you should find a better price. It can typically be had for ~$59/night.

No, we are going mid summer, July 23-27. No discounts to be found.

I don't usually stay in summer. Sorry; I didn't think about your trip being a summer one. I imagine the rates are higher at that time, but keep your eyes open. It's possible the rate will drop as you get closer to your trip dates.

We've stayed at the API a few times and we wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. The price is great for the location, the rooms are dated yes but they are huge and for just a place to sleep it's great. The pool is HUGE, I wish they had more than 1 hot tub but it's doable and my biggest complaint is that the water temp while showering fluctuates a lot. One minute it will be cold and the next hot but it's definitely tolerable, especially at $69-79 a night! Keep in mind they do charge for parking but it's still a great deal and a decent place to stay. The walk is the same as the HoJo, 10 minutes or less depending on which building you're in. I prefer to stay in a second floor room over a first floor but I don't like people walking around above me, I was that way when we lived in an apt too....just didn't like that at all. lol
