Let me know if you have stayed at either and how it was. We're looking for the week of April 28th through May 1st. The Anaheim Plaza has nights for $69.00 and the Desert Inn has nights for $79. The Hojo doesn't have the Entertainment Rate for that week, so that's out.

Any input would be amaz-ering! :goodvibes

TIA!

We have stayed at both and both have pros and cons. Personally, I prefer the Anaheim Plaza over the Desert Inn.
Desert Inn Cons:
-The "breakfast" is a joke. Like, seriously. Watered down oj, a package of bread with margarine next to a toaster, a few seriously stale pastries, bananas and apples.
-The beds weren't very comfy, the floors were kind of grungy (black socks that started life as white...LOL), and housekeeping was hit or miss (on a 4 night trip, we had housekeeping twice)
-The pool is seriously the nastiest thing I have ever seen. It is listed as an indoor heated pool but the pool was SOOOO cold and the hot tub was about what I would expect the heated pool to be at. Also, it is in a concrete room in the parking lot with the door next to the hot tub being a metal screen door and ALL kinds of nasty garbage and dirt was going straight into the "hot tub". So gross!
-Parking is HORRID!!!
Desert Inn Pros:
-Seriously, it's basically the closest you can get.
-Yeah, that's it. LOL And the price is usually pretty awesome as well.

Anaheim Plaza Pros:
-Beds are more comfy, rooms are cleaner. *We once had a room in February with a broken a/c and the room was nasty hot but we were moved after they failed to fix it, so kind of a con but then turned pro as the room we were moved to was better! LOL
-The pool is AMAZING!!! Soooo clean and huge and wasn't super cold, even in February!
-The grounds are really clean and customer service was pretty spot on.

Cons:
-Had the broken a/c unit
-Is a little farther of a walk to the park, but still totally doable!

After 7 stays on "the strip" (Harbour Blvd.), we have found a hotel that is reasonably priced with super comfy beds, super duper clean with the greatest staff in all of hotel history that is about 10 minutes away. Love this hotel!! But, the drive really wouldn't work for families with little ones that need naps (or it might be a plus! They might conk out on way to hotel! LOL).

Hope that helps!

Thank you SO much! That really helped me. The reviews on Trip Advisor are pretty split between the Anaheim Plaza and the Desert Inn.

The Anaheim Plaza has $4/night for parking. While the Desert Inn has free parking.

We stayed at the Desert Inn in 2005. The room was comfy enough for our big family. The pool is inside & we avoided it. The best part was the rooftop viewing for the fireworks. If you decided to not watch fireworks from the park one night, you could watch from the motel. It was a great view, no music but nice.
We had a problem with the people above us. They let their kids run the bath over & it started pouring in on one of our beds (thru the sprinkler system). We called mgmt & they brought up clean bedding. My mother in law said what about the wet mattress & they said I don't think we have any spares. She told them to find one!! They acted like it was our fault. Luckily we were in the room at the time, because that was the bed we dumped all the souvenirs on & I would have been way mad if they had been ruined.
BONUS: right at the cross-walk for the park

Hope that helps some!!

We just returned from a 7 night stay at the Anaheim Desert Inn, Feb. 11-18. We previously have stayed at the Carousel Inn (3 times) and at HOJO (1 time). We had a fabulous stay. We found the beds comfy, the room was clean and housekeeping had it spotless by the time we returned each day. The breakfast was similar to the Carousel Inn, HOJO offers no breakfast. It was enough to get us going in the morning. The kids and their cousin swam and used the hot tub several times and never complained (Ages 17, 16 & 11). We were there over the President's day weekend and always found a spot to park in. The location can't be beat. The front desk staff was friendly and allowed me to do online web check in including printing out boarding passes for free. I had to charge internet time and printing to my credit card when we stayed at the Carousel Inn. We paid $59/night for the weekdays and $89/night for weekends. We had no complaints. :) We certainly would stay here again and feel very comfortable recommending it to others. We have never stayed at the Anahim Plaza so I don't know how it compares to the Desert Inn.

Thank you everyone! :)

I was leaning more towards the Desert Inn more because of the closeness. Plus parking and internet are free.

Right now their website is quoting me for $79/night and I called (their 1-800 number) to see if they have a AAA discount and the discount he gave me was $89/night. I hung up and said thank you and went back online and now I'm confused. :confused3 I'm going to call again later and see if I get a different person, if not I'll just book online for the $79/night.

I've run into that several times with all the hotels along Harbor. There are a certain number of rooms alloted for web rates and the reservations agents cannot give you that rate. Sometimes you can say I saw it for $XX.XX on the web, can you honor that and it may work. Other times they'll tell you to go online and book it.

Between the 2, I'd go with Desert Inn. I did not enjoy my stay at Anaheim Plaza. In 2 weeks I'll be at the Desert Inn for my 3rd stay. It's not my top pick among the Harbor hotels, but when the price is right, it wins out.

My room at Anaheim Plaza was small, dark, run down and felt dirty. Could have just been that the carpet, tile and bedding was so old that it just couldn't get sparkly clean. There was no breakfast and it's a farther walk.

Desert Inn doesn't have a fantastic breakfast but some coffee and a muffin are enough to hold me over until an early lunch. The rooms have always been decent. I don't like the pool, but I'm not staying across the street from Disneyland to swim in the pool, ya know?

And $14 per night adds up....$10 per night room charge + $4 parking fee.

Thank you got2travel!!

I booked for the Desert Inn earlier today (I should have posted that, huh?)

I ended up calling back and asking why it was cheaper online and the guy just said it was. It's always cheaper when you book online through them than through over the phone. So I hung up and booked online!

We're not looking for fancy-schmancy and the pool is no problem. We usually never swim anyways. And I feel you about the breakfast. A juice and a muffin is fine for us.

Thank you! :)

That's strange because when we went in January they gave me cheaper rates over the phone than they had on their own website, or any other travel site like expedia or travelocity. We were satisfied with our stay. It wasn't fantastic, but it was adequate, and great for the rate we got. The location can't be beat.
