Hi All,

We have an upcoming trip February 16 -20 and I wanted to be very "budget minded". We currently have reservations at the Anaheim Plaza for $59 a night (HoJo's does not have the Enter. Rate).

I have never stayed there, but know others have....so, has anyone stayed their recently? What are your honest opinions?

Any input is greatly appreciated!

I really liked it. I stayed there Dec 10-12. Room was very large and very quiet. Pool is huge and hot tub HOT. ( It was raining while I was there) I would say it's pretty much the same as Desert Inn and Suites but much cheaper, but only slightly farther. The walk was very easy. I crossed at the corner and walked on the other side of Harbor up past the 15 min drop off parking lot.

We didn't hate it at all but my advice is to keep in mind the cancellation window and keep watching for the HoJo rate instead. For $59 I'd much rather stay at the HoJo then the AP. Our room was fine, the beds were good, the water temp never stayed consistent, it was always going hot to cold, or more like scalding to icy, but the staff was fine (they messed up my reservation and didn't mark me down as having checked in but as soon as I contacted them they refunded the $$ they'd put on my cc) and the room was fine. The walk was about the same for us and we didn't like the $4 parking fee they added but it was good enough that we would stay there again.

How did you feel the walk was compared to Hojo? It seems like Hojo is a lot farther than AP.

For us it was the same, we did them both in about 7 minutes. There were more lights to worry about coming from the AP, well maybe not, I guess you have to cross twice at both hotels.

We stayed there years ago and the rooms were fine, the pool and hot tub were awesome and heated! The pool was heated too! No, it really was heated and comfortable when we stayed there. ;) Anyway, if you can get the Hojo Ent rate then it's probably a better buy, but if you can't get the Ent rate, AP is fine in a pinch. $4 is nothing for a parking fee if it helps weed out people who would attempt to park there for free while not staying there. The rooms were a very good size. The beds were not plush pillow top style beds, but for a budget room, it was fine. I would also pay attention to the cancellation window and keep watching for Hojos Ent rates.

I agree with the above posters. It was okay but I much prefer Hojo. We stayed there this past October for 2 nights because there was no entertainment rate for Hojo and we needed a close budget motel.

The water in the shower was barely warm and the beds were not very comfortable and we ended up with a room in the farthest corner away from DL. The property just felt really old and rundown. The walk was fine but I probably won't be staying there again as I'd like to try Desert Inn and Suites or the Ramada maingate.

We do like the Park Vue Inn but they are always so expensive.

Thank you for all your responses. This is kind of what I thought you all would say.

I would prefer to stay at HoJo's if the Entertainment Rate comes into play...but at this point the rooms at HoJo are $40 more per night..and well...that is a lot of Churros! lol.

Thanks again and I will need to remember to bring my bathing suit! :goodvibes

You'll be fine, we stayed there last Sept. and I'd stay there again. As others have said I'd rather stay at HoJo's but only if the ent rate was available. Right now I have Motel 6 booked for DD's B~day trip (4th of July weekend), I'll keep an eye on the AP and hope for the $59 rate!

Trust me, having stayed at Desert inn and AP, aside from the distance to the park, DI being across the street, there is almost no difference in the quality of the rooms, and AP's pool is much nicer

Janette, thanks for the comparison on DI&S vs. Anaheim Plaza. I was actually thinking that DI&S were a step above AP from all the good things I've read on here. We will probably skip that one.

Parking is a huge pain at Desert Inn and it can be noisy. AP parking is plentiful and they let you stay parked through midnight on the day you check out. So if you want to check out and spend the day at the parks you don't have to move. At DI once you check out you have to move your car. They let me stay parked until 2pm once which was nice

I have to say I really disliked HoJO's and it all started from booking the room the people were rude and didnt want to help me.
I found the AP to be lovely they front desk staff were lovely and really helpful and they couldnt do enough for me.
I found the rooms to be fine rather large and they were doing them up while we were there.
we stayed for 4 weeks and are staying there again in march when we go back!!

You guys rock! :cool1:
I feel much more confident about my choice now.

Lurking here on the boards is one of my favorite hobbies...I don't post very often...but when I do you all are so wonderful.

I am feeling a little excited to try this hotel now....I will make sure to post a review after our stay there.

Have to ask...has anyone tried the AP breakfast buffet or otherwise and do you know whether they have wifi? Did not see it listed on the site.

I wonder if you called the 800 number or if you called the HoJo direct? When I've been transferred to the 800 number the staff leaves much to be desired but everytime I've called the 714 number and spoken with Jennifer or Lorealle my service has been excellent. I even called once when Jennifer was on lunch, Lorealle was off and the other gal (Jessica?) was on the phone so the front desk staff member helped me book my hotel room, she was just as great as the gals in reservations. :) I've also had packages delivered and they've held them for me, I had someone come to our room really late and they had no problems getting in the parking lot and they were given a "guest key" so they could get into our building (the night staff did contact me prior to giving them the key), we park in the HoJo lot after we check out.....
I'm sorry your experience with HoJo was negative and I'm glad your experience with the AP was good! :)

We did not do the bfast buffet and they did not have wifi when we stayed there. At least not that they told us about and we didn't ask because we didn't need it that trip.

I did not eat the buffet, but my wife and 4 year old daughter did and they enjoyed the food. My wife said it was better than the buffet food in the parks, but not quite the selection and it was worth the $9.95 w/ 1 kid free.

I don't know about the wifi.

Blackjackdelta They have wifi in the rooms but its not free i think it was like $49 for a week and i know we paid $99 for 30 days. it might have been something like 9.95 a day :confused3

The breakfast buffet was about the same quality as Denny's or Coco's food (as in, nothing fancy, but fresh & good for basic breakfast fare), and, at $9.99 for AYCE, a great bargain, as well. There's bacon, sausage, croissants (freshly baked, always a plus), scrambled eggs, potatoes, yogurt, fruit, and pastries. It's always been well-stocked when I've eaten there, and there's never been a wait :thumbsup2

The buffet was really small and not anything special to write home about... The kids eating free was probably the only highlight of the breakfast IMHO.

Wifi was available but for 9.99 or 12.99 a day.. It was expensive enough we only paid for it one day of the trip because I needed to use it for work.
