Has anyone stayed here recently we got a great deal on our room in October $59/night, but I'm worried about the room and the walk? Can anyone calm my fears we've never stayed here or even seen it before?

You're speaking of the Anaheim Plaza on Harbor, right? I've stayed there lots of times :thumbsup2

It's an older hotel, basic but clean & with a HUGE, heated pool, and is about a 12 minute walk from room to Park turnstiles.

The beds aren't the most comfy & the room decor is stuck in the 80s, but it's a great deal for a (non-scary) hotel that close!

We've stayed there and would stay there again if the price was right ~ under $60 per night. The walk is very easy.

Yes, that's the one I guess I got the name wrong :sad2: Is it really a 12 minute walk? We're used to staying right acrossed the street I hope the savings is worth the walk.

We stay here almost every trip now. We travel with 3 kids under the age of 4 so we are normally pushing a double and single stroller and our walk has never taken us more than about 8 - 10 mins and this is at the end of a very long and tiring day. We love the location for the simple fact that we can go back during the heat of the day and have the kids take naps so we can then see all the nighttime shows. Have a great trip!!

No worries; just wanted to make sure you weren't asking about the other Plaza hotel :hippie:

Yep, it's about a 12 minute walk for me; could be less if you walk faster than I do. (bad back + several days at the Park + several nights in not the most comfy of beds = sore but worth it )

I FELT like the walk was shorter/closer than Hojo's, and looking at Google, I think it may be. My mom didn't much care for the room (doors opened to the outdoors (no hallways) and the decor wasn't great). But she thought it was OK. I thought it was fine and actually liked the location.

I have stayed at the anaheim plaza the last two times i have been at disneyland and for extended stays.

I never had a problem with the bed i found it comfy its relatively quiet and its not overly expensive.

I think its only about a 5 min walk to the entrance plaza and about 2 more minutes to the actual gate.

I am not a fast walker by anymeans.

I think you will like it.

Another who has stayed here and are going back there again when we stay in November/December this year.

Like spacemermaid said the decor is 80's but the rooms are clean and we always felt safe.

The walk took us about 10 mins or so and that was pushing a pram.

I think its great for the price and wouldnt be staying again if we didnt like it :)

Great price compared to some other hotels, our first stay we stayed at the Carousel and it was nice but all we do really is sleep in the rooms and use it to store our luggage so we much rather save our money for shopping and souvenirs

As others have said - a basic hotel a very short walk from DL. We stay here almost exclusively and we enjoy the balconies/patios, and the fridges in the room.

That bathrooms are small, the beds are not what I call "comfy" (I always return with a sore back), but for $50-$60 a night, I can live with it. It has a HUGE heated pool that's always been clean and pleasant though which is always nice.

I have heard stories regarding issues with leaving items at the front desk for check-in later on other boards, so just be aware.

Have fun at DL!

Just got back from a 2-night stay. Here are my thoughts:
*It was a nice location; easy walk to the park, close to food places. We thought the walk was much nicer if you cross the street at the first light and walk down the DL side.
*There is a nice lobby and some on-site amenities like restaurant, pool table, and shops.
*The layout is very old-fashioned, with rambling 2-story buildings interspersed with atriums. I viewed this as funky chic and thought it was cool. My adult dd was less impressed, not having grown up when those things were common and therefore not experiencing the nostalgia factor, I guess.
*There is a huge pool, but we didn't use it so I didn't even go over to look. We could see it from our room, though, and it looked great.
*The staff was nice, albeit not what you'd find at DLR. For instance, the lady who checked us in had a handcuff necklace, facial piercings, and other sort of gothic-type fashion statements.
*The room was large, pretty clean and they did have a mw, small fridge, and bathroom amenities like shampoo, lotion, conditioner, and shower cap.

Now for the negatives:
*The decor was old and tired, the beds standard old motel beds, and the AC was either on or off. I'm funny and hate having air blowing on me, but when it's hot you have to do something. I just don't like having the AC blowing on me all night.
*It was a mistake to look too closely behind the fridge/mw, which I did when looking for an outlet for charging my phone. That and my next point are what made me give it a *pretty clean* rather than a *very clean* rating.
*There was a very bad odor that came out of the sink drain after running the water. We later noticed a bunch of gnat-like bugs congregating there and the smell was a sewer-ish odor. Very unpleasant; the smell permeated the whole bathroom and encroached on the room a bit. I think there must've been a hair clog or something along those lines in the line somewhere. It made it really hard for me to get water for my pill out of that sink or to brush my teeth, but I did both and survived. I knew it wasn't the water that was the problem.
*When taking a shower, I could NOT get the temp adjusted. I think other people using showers in other rooms impacted ours because it would be just right, then suddenly burning hot. By that I mean practically scalding--I literally had to call my dd in to change the setting for me because it was too hot for me to reach through to adjust. She had to turn the dial to almost completely cold before it was ok, and then after a few minutes, of course, it was totally cold. My dd had showered first and had no problems, though. I could hear the water running in the room next door during mine so I think that's what happened.

My conclusion: if I were to do it over, I'd pay the extra $30/night and stay at BWPPI. It's directly across the street from the main entrance and also a clean, standard motel. I like Hojo's, but their rate at the time of our stay was double what we were paying for APH.

SO...for $58, you get a good $58 basic motel room. If you're expecting or wanting more, then you'll need to pay more.

Dizme, I'm sorry you had that problem. I probably would have asked to be moved as I don't see them being fully booked. We've never had that problem so perhaps a plumbing problem in that room?

The rooms were a lot bigger than BWPPI and half the cost. The room we had, we had the double sinks in the bathroom. Huge area for everyone getting ready. I agree with the other poster that by crossing at the first light, the walk seemed shorter and nicer. You are directly across from TOT. We always stayed at BWPPI and as nice as it is to be right at the light, we can't justify $60+ a night anymore (usually 240 a vacation). We are a snack family, so that buys alot of chocolate, ice cream, etc. Another plus, not worrying about getting a parking place like we were at BWPPI. That place needs those stackable parking places shown on th community board.

Did anyone see a hot tub at the Anaheim Plaza?

Having said all that, thinking of going on my first adult only trip and staying at BWPPI. Should also mention, no free breakfast at Anaheim Plaza which was no biggie for us as we took a small ice chest with milk and had cereal or granola bars before heading to the park.

We've stayed at Anaheim Plaza once for my DD's Sweet 16 trip. The room was large, and clean. We had a bottom floor room and an outdoor, enclosed patio. The walk really wasn't too bad.

That said, it is our third choice for off site hotels. We prefer HOJO, with the EC rate, then Desert Inn (price & proximity) as out back up. I would not hesitate to stay at Anaheim Plaza if it was what suited our needs/budget though.

The only issues we really had during our stay were the sound of the maid's cart on the sidewalk early in the morning and the noise of the shower next door also early in the morning.

I've had the same water temp issue both times we've stayed at the AP. But we would stay there again for sure. Yes there's a hot tub next to the pool, I spent quite a bit of time hanging out in the hot tub one evening in particular. it was quite nice. The pool is HUGE! Olympic sized and 11 feet deep, altho they do have signs that say no diving. the rooms are large, outdated, not enough plugs (we had to unplug the fridge so DD could charge her phone at the same we were all charging our phones), but overall clean and the price is very right. It takes us about 7 minutes to walk to the parks, but that depends on catching the lights and which building you are in, if you are in the farther buildings it will take a couple minutes longer. All in all it's a fine place to stay and we've definitely stayed in worse places around DL, we would stay there again for sure.

One thing I forgot to add about the sink smell: we had the same thing happen about 4-5 years ago at DLH, and I know Sherry (the mod) had that happen at PPH, so just because you pay a lot more for the hotel doesn't mean you won't end up with those kinds of glitches from time to time. We didn't have an issue with it until we ran water in the sink for the first time, and though we could have/should have asked to switch rooms, we just didn't have a lot of time. We went to the parks and then to a memorial tribute, and the next day we were gone the whole day as well so :confused3 it wasn't worth it to us (we were only there 2 nights).

We didn't have the giant bathroom a PP mentioned but we did have a large closet! If I'd been worried about bugs etc I would've been out of there in a flash, but everything else was ok. I also forgot to mention that what I saw behind the fridge was just carpet pulled out which looked tacky and made it seem less clean than if the carpet had been attached and unworn.

I also stayed once there. I enjoyed the hot tub bath.:cool1:
Best thing here is its pool, It is really very big.

Go to globester.com to get more better hotel options.:thumbsup2

Dh and ds stayed there beginning of August and thought it was basic, but clean and a close walk. Could see TOT from their room and the fireworks from out by the pool! Got the best rate booking via AAAs website.

Make sure you check for bedbugs. I learned that lesson the very hard and very, very expensive way. You can get them anywhere, but I got them from that hotel.

Is it really a 12 minute walk?

More like 5-10 minutes.

I have stayed at the Anaheim Plaza before. I've stayed at every resort across the street at some point. The Plaza can be hit or miss. 58 bucks is a good price, but to be honest it's not worth much more. The beds are sometimes less than soft, and the pool hasn't always been sparkling. But I don't consider myself a huge hotel snob when it comes to the off-properties at DL, so I'd stay there again for under 60 bucks.

This is pretty much my point of view of the place!
